Presentation transcript:

Upcoming school-wide events: -- November 4 th : 3 rd grade play -- November 9 th : Start of canned food drive -- November 17 th : End of canned food drive -- November 22 nd : Thanksgiving Celebration, early-release day -- December 12 th : 2 nd grade play Dear parents, November is going to be a big month in Room 113! The third grade play is on November 4 th at 2 pm in the school auditorium. Parents and siblings are encouraged to come and support our amazing actors and actresses! The play is Elementary School Musical! The kids are all really excited to share their hard work with their friends and family, so please come. There will be refreshments afterwards in the lobby. We are about to begin our unit on Ancient Greece. In the next couple of weeks, ask your students what they have learned, especially about Greek government and its influence on the U.S. government. After our two weeks on Ancient Greece, we will be turning to a science unit on simple machines. Just as a heads up, on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving, they will need to bring in an example of a simple or compound machine that they use on a regular basis. Don’t forget that the day before Thanksgiving is an early release day, and we’ll be done at 1pm. Have a safe and happy Thanksgiving! Warmest regards, Miss Eaton Reminders: -- Flu season is coming up so be sure to get your flu shot and wash your hands! -- As the weather starts to cool, make sure to check the weather daily. If there is a possibility of winter weather, check out the school website for closing information: Reading Corner: Red Group: A great book you might think of reading is The Basil of Baker Street by Eve Titus Purple Group: Try reading The Big Balloon Race by Eleanor Corr. I think you’ll really like this one! Blue group: Knights of the Kitchen Table by Jon Scieszka is definitely a book you will enjoy! All these books are available in our school library, in the local public library, or on amazon.com or any bookstore. Superstar student of the month: HANNAH JOHNSON All of the students of Room 113 are talented and unique, but this month we would like to honor Hannah Johnson for her work on the third grade play. Hannah has been working over-time as the student director, helping Mrs. Alcott, the music teacher, in the planning and choreography of the play. Well done, Hannah!

November birthdays: November 4 th : Eliot Anderson November 12 th : Annie Barrett November 26 th : Benjamin Fisher Happy birthday, boys and girls! Parents, feel free to bring in cupcakes, but please let me know beforehand. Quote of the month: “If you shoot for the stars and hit the moon, it's OK. But you've got to shoot for something. A lot of people don't even shoot.” -- Robert Townsend Did you know? Benjamin Franklin wanted our national bird to be the turkey. What is our national bird? Fun fact about Miss Eaton: She lived in Iceland for two years as a little girl. Can you find Iceland on the globe?
