SafeLINC™ Fire Panel Internet Interface Online Access to Fire System Information The intention of this presentation is to highlight the advances in technology and the availability of communication mediums that have developed by SimplexGrinnell to not only to meet our customers requirements, but to also enhance and improve on previous traditional methods by utilizing site wired LAN/WAN reticulation networks and the internet.

Introducing… SafeLINC Fire Panel Internet Interface An Internet-based communications link that enables facility managers and building owners to use a web browser to monitor the status of their fire alarm systems Target markets School districts Hospitals with remote facilities Universities and colleges Non-contiguous manufacturing facilities The term SafeLINC is best described as an internet-based communication tool for remote access to a fire panel. Now this may be required by either a facilities manager or a building owner/occupier in a Hospital or a University, as an example, or quite simply by a fire alarm maintenance company.

What is SafeLINC? A Web Interface internet connectivity for Fire Alarm Control Panels Enables investigation of fire alarm control panel status using an Internet browser Uses customers’ Internet/Intranet back bone Provides: Browser review of system status Automatic e-mail of event status changes So what is SafeLINC? It is a Web based internet interface to a fire alarm panel that can provide investigation and/or interrogation of one’s system using the customers Internet/Intranet backbone in addition to being able to provide fire alarm event changes automatically via email. __________________________________________________________________

System Overview The fire panel is assigned an IP address on the customers LAN/WAN and then via any P.C. and a local internet connection, one can dial in to the fire panel and either remotely request status summaries or interrogate the system.

Features Provides single user access for up to 20 different users Compatible with Internet Explorer 5.0 or higher UL-listed to Standard 864 On-board service port for setup and diagnostics Generic login screen SafeLINC provides single user access for up to 20 different users and it is compatible with most versions of Internet Explorer. The Internet Module itself also has a service port for on-board setup and diagnostics and comes complete with a generic login screen.

Login Screen Anonymous login screen for protection An example of the generic login screen.

Access Security Selectable login parameters Programmable login attempts before lockout Selectable from 1 to 20 with 3 as default Lockout time after unsuccessful login attempts Lockout time programmable from 0 to 24 hours 1 hour is default lockout time Record of unsuccessful logins e-mailed to administrators Individual IP addresses or address series can be blocked There are a number of programmable built-in security features: For example – selecting the number of login attempts prior to lockout, the lockout time after an unsuccessful login attempt and the recording of unsuccessful logins which, incidentally, can be emailed to administrators. There is also the ability to block an individual IP address or an address series.

Features Automatic e-mail feature provides selectable notification to user accounts Will automatically notify user accounts of selected status changes Information can be Alarm, Supervisory, Trouble or TrueAlarm, Dirty or Excessively Dirty status The automatic email feature provides for the ability to vector either the information as well as the user account in terms of notification.

Message Distribution Automatic email distribution can be routed to the programmable user account list, forwarded to selected individual workstations, to email distribution receivers, to PDA’s (Personal Digital Assistant e.g. Palm Pilot) or to a compatible wireless messaging device like a pager.

Features Panel Status Shown on Internet Browser Display of Alarm, Priority 2, Supervisory, and Trouble messages & counts Detailed point information similar to that available on panel user interface TrueAlarm sensor status and service report viewing Alarm and Trouble log viewing The information available via the web browser is similar to that available on the fire panel user interface as well as having the ability to view detector status and service reports, and alarm and trouble logs.

Sample Event Screen This slide shows a standard active fire events list which details the device address within the system, the type of device e.g smoke detector and any operator notes associated with a change of status for that device. Like the name and contact details of the person one should contact in the event of an emergency.

Internet Connectivity Benefits Get fire system alerts automatically through e-mail Get reports automatically through e-mail for archiving and printing on your systems printers So in closing, I guess some of the benefits of the SafeLINC internet interface device could be automatic fire alarm alerts via email as well as automatically routing system reports via email to your workstation for printing.

Internet Connectivity Uses Access your buildings fire systems from one location, any location And the ability to access a buildings fire alarm system from one or many locations through the local internet/intranet.
