Hypothalamus gland & hormones  Hypothalamic-releasing hormone:  Anti-diuretic hormone- ___________ at the kidneys  Oxytocin- the ability to trust, _________, sleep cycles, and the release of breast milk.

Thymus gland & hormones  Thymosin- increases immune response and promotes _________

Fibromyalgia  Wide spread pain  Fatigue  Cognitive difficulties  Caused by genetics, infections, or trauma

Hypothalamic-releasing hormone diagram

HIV/AID  Fever  Headache  Rash  Chills  Sore throat  Night sweats  Caused by sharing needles, transfusions, sex, or during pregnancy delivery or breast feeding  Hinders production of ___________  Once T-Cell count drops below certain amount, it becomes AIDS

Hiv/aids diagram

Did you know?  In some countries around the world, thymus glands/pancreas are delicacies (known here as sweetbreads).

Did you know??  They Hypothalamus Gland controls your orgasms

Concept Check  1. What main role does the thymus carry out?  Production of T-Cells (white blood cells that fight viruses and infection, including autoimmune diseases.  2. Why does the thymus gland shrink as we get older?  It is only active until puberty, after which it is replaced by fat. It is largest during adolescent years.  3. What is homeostasis? How does the Hypothalamus regulate this?  Homeostasis is the body maintaining balance in acidity and alkalinity, and regulating body temperature. The hypothalamus controls when other endocrine glands produce their respective hormones, thereby controlling homeostasis.
