POWER ON Your Future High School Four Year Plan

WHAT YOU’LL HEAR ENDORSEMENTS Arts & Humanities Business & Industry Multidisciplinary Public Service STEM POST-SECONDARY – What your plans are after you graduate high school: 4yr College/University, 2yr College, Technical School, Trade School, Military, Workforce,etc. COHERENT SEQUENCE – Courses taken with similar career paths to better prepare you in that field. CTE – Career and Technical Education: Classes designed to assist you with your career interests and prepare you for your future. ATC – A state of the art facility where DISD students have the opportunity to earn university or community college credit and/or the necessary preparation to attain certifications or licenses in certain technical fields. ENDORSEMENTS/MAJORS – Areas of interest you will pursue during high school to help prepare you for college and career. NAVIANCE – A premier one-stop college and career exploration program that will assist you with high school and post-secondary planning.

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO DO NOW? Think about your post-secondary career goals. Determine which Endorsement your career interest falls under. Review the materials you will receive: Personal Graduation Plan (PGP) blank sheet and the PGP Guide. Talk it over with your parents/guardians. Fill it out and review it with your counselor.

EXAMPLE ELECTIVES 1)Fill in your 9 th grade year – what you have signed up to take next year. 2)If you are planning on doing JROTC, Athletics, Fine Arts, etc. all four years, fill in an elective block each year for that activity. 3)Remember – at least 2 credits of the same World Language, 1 credit of PE/PE substitution, and 1 credit of a Fine Art. 4)Choose electives for your Endorsement. 5)ATC classes take up 2 blocks (write class in 2 blocks). 6)Every block must be filled in.
