6 AUSTI N Independent School District Endorsement Options ▪ Students will choose between one of the following five endorsement options - Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) - Business and Industry - Arts and Humanities - Public Services - Multidisciplinary Studies

7 AUSTI N Independent School District STEM ▪ The STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) endorsement is a curriculum path that allows a student to focus deeply on courses related to science, technology, engineering, and math. ▪ Careers - There is wide range of careers available in the STEM field, including: engineer, computer programming, software developer, and research scientist. - Students interested in pursuing an intentional path toward any of those careers should consider a STEM endorsement to guide course selection.

8 AUSTI N Independent School District STEM A student may earn a STEM endorsement by completing the requirements specified in the foundation plan, including Algebra II, chemistry, and physics. In addition, students would have to complete one of the following: a sequence of courses for four or more credits in career and technical education (CTE) that consists of at least two courses in the same career cluster and at least one advanced CTE course. The final course in the sequence must be selected from a CTE career cluster related to STEM: a sequence of four approved credits in computer science ∙three credits in mathematics by successfully completing Algebra II and two additional approved mathematics courses, for which completion of Algebra II is required ∙four credits in science by successfully completing chemistry, physics and two additional approved science courses

9 AUSTI N Independent School District Business and Industry ▪ The Business and Industry endorsement is a curriculum path that allows a student to focus deeply on courses directly related to the business field. ▪ Careers - Careers related to this field include: information technology specialist, communications, financial advisor, marketing specialist, architect, construction, and project management. Students interested in pursuing an intentional path in the business world may want to consider the Business and Industry endorsement to guide course selection.

10 AUSTI N Independent School District Business and Industry A student may earn a business and industry endorsement by completing the requirements specified in the foundation plan, in addition to one of the following: a sequence of courses for four or more credits in career and technical education (CTE) that consists of at least two courses in the same career cluster, including at least one advanced CTE course. The final course in the sequence must be selected from one of the following CTE career clusters: oagriculture, food, and natural resources oarchitecture and construction oarts, audio/visual technology, and communications obusiness management and administration ofinance ohospitality and tourism oinformation technology omanufacturing omarketing otransportation, distribution, and logistics ∙four English elective courses from one of the following areas: oadvanced broadcast journalism oadvanced journalism: newspaper opublic speaking odebate oadvanced journalism: yearbook ∙four technology application credits ∙an approved sequence of four credits from the categories listed above

11 AUSTI N Independent School District Public Services ▪ The Public Services endorsement is a curriculum path that allows a student to focus deeply on courses directly related to the public service field, including the education field and government. ▪ Careers - There is a wide range of careers available in the public services sector, including serving as a police officer, firefighter, government official, human resource administrator, or teacher. Students interested in pursuing an intentional path toward any of these careers should consider a Public Service endorsement to guide course selection.

12 AUSTI N Independent School District Public Services A student may earn a public services endorsement by completing the requirements specified in the foundation plan, in addition to one of the following: ∙a sequence of courses for four or more credits in career and technical education (CTE) that consists of at least two courses in the same career cluster, including at least one advanced CTE course. The final course in the sequence must be selected from one of the following CTE career clusters: oeducation and training ogovernment and public administration ohealth science ohuman olaw, public safety, corrections, and securities ∙four courses in Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC).

13 AUSTI N Independent School District Arts and Humanities ▪ The Arts and Humanities endorsement is a curriculum path that allows for a student to focus deeply on courses directly related to fine arts, English literature, foreign languages, and social studies. ▪ Careers - Students interested in pursuing a career path in the entertainment industry or as an interpreter, or writer, for example, may want to consider the Arts and Humanities endorsement to guide course selection.

14 AUSTI N Independent School District Arts and Humanities A student may earn an arts and humanities endorsement by completing the requirements specified in the foundation plan, in addition to one of the following: ∙five social studies courses ∙four levels of the same language in a language other than English ∙two levels of the same language in a language other than English and two levels of a different language in a language other than English ∙four levels of American sign language ∙four courses in fine arts from one or two categories ∙four approved English elective credits

15 AUSTI N Independent School District Multidisciplinary ▪ The Multiple Disciplinary endorsement allows for students to further study a foundation area or a wide range of curriculum sets. ▪ Careers - Because of the broad nature of a multidisciplinary endorsement, students can choose from a wide variety of careers. If students are unsure of their career interests and wish to cross-study multiple subjects, they may want to consider the multidisciplinary endorsement to guide course selection.

16 AUSTI N Independent School District Multidisciplinary A student may earn a multidisciplinary studies endorsement by completing the requirements specified in the foundation plan, in addition to one of the following: ∙four advanced courses that prepare a student to enter the workforce successfully or postsecondary education from within one endorsement area or among endorsement areas that are not in a coherent sequence ∙four credits in each of the four foundation subject areas to include English IV and chemistry and/or physics ∙four advanced placement (AP), International Baccalaureate (IB), or dual credit courses from English, math, science, social studies, economics, languages other than English or fine arts.

17 AUSTI N Independent School District Performance Acknowledgements ▪ Students may earn a performance acknowledgement on the student’s diploma by achieving one of the following: - Outstanding performance in dual credit courses bilingualism and biliteracy Advanced Placement (AP) and International Baccalaureate (IB) exams PSAT, ACT-Plan, SAT, or ACT - By earning a nationally or internationally recognized business or industry certification license
