Art Room Rules

Rule # 1 is safety

Rules Active Learning Do your best You can’t say can’t in the art room - try. You can and will make mistakes – learn from them

Rules Being Safe Think and practice safety at all times! Carry sharp items like pencils, scissors and compasses in the palm of your hand. Use all tools and equipment carefully. Walk never run in the art room Sit on your seats properly

Rules Caring Respect yourself and others Be responsible for you actions, supplies, materials, and equipment Be helpful – keep things clean. Choose your attitude Don’t say or do anything to anyone unless you would first say or do it to Ms. Clausing Conserve Preserve Recycle The definition of a toy is something that you play with. If you play with something by definition it becomes a toy. The only person to have toys in the art room is Ms. Clausing!

Fire Safety When we hear the alarm We stop working We stop talking

Art Room Door We line up at the door – we do not wait for line leaders or line order. The 1 st person in line will hold the door open for everyone, then they will get in at the end when everyone is out of the room.

The 2 nd person leads the class on the sidewalk, to the other side of the parking lot, stop on the sidewalk near the tree.

Storm Safety when we hear the siren We stop working We stop talking

Line up at the door the 1 st person holds the door for everyone and gets in line at the end when everyone has entered the safe room.

The second person leads the class into the safe room, sits still and silently on the floor to hear the directions.

Lock Down when we hear the lock down alert We stop all work There will be no talking Ms. Howe will… - turn off the lights Everyone will go to the safe room, sit quietly, and wait for directions!

Try to go before art, but if it’s an emergency…

Leave the pass on your desk so I know you’re gone.

Procedure At the beginning of art class… Come into the art room quietly. Sit down and wait for directions. At the end of art class… Put your art work on the drying rack unless Ms. Clausing tells you to put it somewhere else. Put away all of your materials, equipment and supplies. Clean up any mess you may have made. Recycle when possible If your area is clean help others to clean up.

We are going to make some wonderful art together this year!
