History  International Night (I-Night) is the largest and most festive celebration of our school’s diversity and world cultures.  I-Night is organized by Payton's International Club and the World Language Department and features an international feast of delectable dishes from around the world and activity booths for students and families to play games, do crafts, and learn more about the many cultures present at Payton.  I-Night features a showcase of student performances with past acts including Muntu dance, Israeli folk music, Korean K-pop, Mexican folkloric dance, Bollywood dance, Irish step dance, martial arts, Polish music, Hawaiian hula, and much more!

Invite Your Friends!  International Night is the biggest fundraiser of the year for international trips. Payton students had amazing travel experiences this year, and with support from the community we can make it possible for years to come. We really need your help to rally troops. Please pass the word on by inviting family, siblings, friends and community members to this fun night that showcases our school’s cultural diversity through live performances, games, art and international food. Do you want to earn extra credit?

To earn extra credit, you can:  Lead a “global” game or activity booth  Bring and serve food from any world culture (the U.S. doesn’t count!)  You need to complete the necessary form(s):  Link to International Night 2015 Volunteer Form: 

“Global” Game / Activity Booth  Create a cultural activity booth (i.e. interactive game, arts and crafts project, trivia, etc.)  You are responsible for manning your table and engaging I-Night participants as they walk by your table (don’t just sit idle; be an entertainer)  You may team up for this! (pairs, no more than 2 students per activity booth)  Fill out the Google form! 

Performances  Share your global talents and international flair with a dance, song, music, poetry, performance or cultural demonstration, at International Night!  We welcome all cultures and all languages! The performances will run from approximately 6:30-8:30 pm. Please note that there will be an Enrichment scheduled on Monday, March 29 for a meeting with at least one representative from each performance. Please note: There will be 2 mandatory dress rehearsal enrichments scheduled on the recital hall stage the week of April 27. Your entire group must attend one of these.

International Feast  You may bring in food from any world culture (not including the U.S.)  Food can be store-bought, from restaurant, or homemade!  NO PEANUTS  Fill out the Google form!

Food Requirements  Food Drop-off and Refrigeration: Students bringing their food to school may bring it to the cafeteria for refrigeration after the last lunch period (around 1pm) or starting at 4pm. Do not drop off food that requires refrigeration at the cafeteria before school or during lunch. The cafeteria is busy during serving hours and unable to provide assistance. It is preferable that dishes, particularly those that need to be kept cold, be dropped off after school between 3 and 4:45. Students may leave any food that does NOT require refrigeration on the counter of their World Language classroom or in the World Language office, with an attached note indicating "DO NOT EAT! Food for I-Night."

Food Requirements  Serving: Food is being served between 5pm and 6:30pm, with set-up beginning at 4:00pm. Please be set up and be ready to start serving by 4:45pm.  Supplies: Please bring enough serving supplies for approx. 100 people (paper plates, plastic forks, spoons, cups, etc.). Also, bring your own supplies for serving food (ladles, spatula, tongs, spoons, etc.). Please bring aluminum foil or containers for taking home any leftovers.  Pick up: Make sure you clean your area afterward and take home with you any leftovers.

Food Requirements  Food Quantity: Given the high number of attendees we receive at I-Night, we recommend doubling (or tripling!) all food recipes (though doubling is usually enough for most recipes).  Food Signs: Please make a simple food sign on computer paper indicating the name of the dish you are bringing (i.e. Potato and Cheese Pierogi) as well as where it comes from (i.e. Poland). You will tape this to the front of your table.

Food Requirements  Food Coordinators: Mrs. Gemskie and Ms. Gallegos are the food coordinators. They will be circulating the cafeteria and assisting with food set-up and take- down, pricing items, assigning tables, etc.  Special Accommodations: Please let Mrs. Gemskie or Ms. Gallegos know if you require any special accommodations (i.e. must be located by an outlet). We have only 4 burners to keep food warm, so if you are able to bring your own, it would be much appreciated.
