Lifeshapes – Learning from Jesus A semicircle of rest and work A triangle of relationships A circle of repentance and faith

Choosing to learn from life How do we learn? How do we know when God is at work in our lives? How does God guide us? Is the bible relevant today? How can I grow closer to God? Will I ever change?

The Bible Bit After John was put in prison, Jesus went into Galilee, proclaiming the good news of God. “The time has come”, he said. “The kingdom of God is near. Repent and believe the good news!” (Mark 1:14, 15) Jesus said, “Learn from me!” (Mat 11:28-30)

The Clever Bit Time=Chronos and Kairos (Greek) Chronos=wristwatch time Kairos = an event, an opportunity

Kairos moments/events Positive or negative Recognized by their impact Signal opportunities to grow What Kairos moments have you had in the your lives? (table talk)

The Bible Bit After John was put in prison, Jesus went into Galilee, proclaiming the good news of God. “The time has come”, he said. “The kingdom of God is near. Repent and believe the good news!”

The Kingdom The kingdom (God’s presence, God’s rule) is within reach for all of us! What do we do about it? How do we reach it? How do I find God? Repent (metanoia)=Change your mind, a process of transformation Believe (Pistis)=Step out in faith, something you are sure about

Event Process

Table talk Use one of the following Kairos examples (or choose one of your own): My car ran out of petrol on the way to work and I missed an important meeting. My son told me the other day I never spend time with him. I got a speeding ticket the other day I stepped on the scales today and realised I am 2 stones overweight! Put it through the learning circle as a group

Life is like… …a slinky!! A series of loops held together by time Choose to learn from life.

“All that matters is what you choose to do with (or learn from) the time that you have been given”

For Cells… Look again at Mark 1 :14-15 What do you understand by the words, ‘kingdom’, ‘repent’ and believe’. What Kairos moments have you had in the last week/month/season? Put them through the circle in pairs Pray together about the issues that arise How can we become more accountable in our cell? Do we have accountability groups?
