Incarnational Method No Pressure Could take Years My Question to John Seems like sharing the “steps” was missing. How and when is this information passed along?

This is where the spiritual conversation comes in.

There is still important information that you want to get across

You do have a plan, but you let the relationship dictate how fast you go.

Instead of the “us vs them” attractional model, the steps become part of the conversation.

Instead of having a superior attitude which conveys the idea that you have the truth, that the other person doesn’t, and you’re going to teach them, take on the attitude that the two of you are on the same journey toward God & you want to explore together.

The Holy Spirit is in charge of the process of conversion. Your part is prayer and conversation. The Holy Spirit over time convicts the heart and brings change in the individual.

Judgment and salvation are in God’s hands, not yours, so you are off the hook as long as you do your part – preaching the word.

Over time, try to tactfully lead an individual to discussion points that you should cover.

So, what is your overall plan?

Where are we headed on our Journey?

Quest Commitment Formation

Quest – Why are we making this Journey?

Human Need Something is Missing The Search for Meaning

The goal of our quest

How do we help someone find God? Tell them your story

Introduce them to the story of God’s own Son.

Show them how the story of Jesus is good news.

So, what should you cover?

Your conversation should include teaching on: Sin Repentance Faith Confession Commitment Baptism

Talking about sin can be really awkward and usually turns people off. So, what to do?

Be transparent. Talk about your own struggles with sin. Show them that the sin problem is universal.

Pray that they open up and begin to discuss their own problems with sin.

Using the word “sin” in today’s world is so negatively loaded that using it really turns people off.

So use other words or phrases that convey the same meaning. failedMessing up Missing the mark Shortcomings

If you don’t ever talk about sin, then the person will never see how sin affects their lives and will not see that they need to deal their own sin problem.
