BATHROOM AERATORS

How to Estimate Savings?  Most TRMs and Energy Trust base savings on an algorithm  ETO savings algorithm: ΔGPM*% Max Flow* usage/day/person*#persons*#days* %HotWater*Δtemp*DHWeff 4

Need for Data  % Max Flow: at what percent of maximum flow does one generally set the faucet?  usage/day usage: how many minutes per day is the faucet running per person?  % Hot water: what is the relative fraction of hot to cold water used?  Or, what is the average water temperature at faucet?  Should we include a sink-fill factor?  What is the saturation of low-flow (<2.2 GPM) aerators out there? 5

7P Source Summary Measure:Aerators ItemMethods & SourcesNote Measures Described Faucet aerator for bathroom use, reducing GPM from 2.5 to 1.0 Energy Savings Calculation Basis Based on engineering calculation using Energy Trust blessing memo, Cadmus MI study Includes wastewater savings Applicable StockRBSA on electric WH saturation, # of bathrooms/home Baseline SaturationETO CPA assumes 65% saturation of measure Source of baseline saturation from Seattle PUC Study of Market Penetration of Water Efficient Fixtures, no more recent data available Baseline HVAC LoadsNA PermutationsOne only CostsETO Blessing Memo Measure LifeETO Blessing Memo Savings ShapeDHW - ERWH Achievable Ramp RateLO Medium (new), Retro in 10 (existing) Aerators are a commonly used water saving measure. ETO and others have program, not RTF UES 6

ADVANCED POWER STRIPS 7

7P Source Summary Measure:Advanced Power Strips Item Methods & Sources Note Measures Described Power strips to switch off peripherals on home entertainment or workstations when main component is off Energy Savings Calculation Basis RTFResAdvancedPowerStrips_v1_5 Applicable Stock # of computers and TVs per home from RBSA, adjusted for those that are "powerstrip ready" Saturation increases over load foreacst, "powerstrip ready" from ETO analysis ~5 years ago Baseline Saturationlow - 1% low product awareness, but programs have begun in 2012 Baseline HVAC LoadsNA PermutationsLoad sensing, infrared, or occupancy Load sensing – computer or TV Infrared – TV only Occ sensor – computer only CostsVarious online sources Measure Life5RTF assumption Savings Shape Res Electronics from RBSA Achievability Ramp Rate LO Fast, Retro in 10 Market evolving quickly, easy to implement 8

Advanced Power Strips  Number of units includes all TVs and Computers in homes, 34% feasibility for SF (based on Energy Trust study); 25% for MF/MH (assumption) 9 ParameterSeventh Plan (draft) Unit Savings at busbar (kWh)34 (load sensing) 45 (occupancy) 284 (infrared) Levelized Cost ($/MWh)-$7 (occupancy) $45 (infrared) $226 (load sensing) Baseline EE Saturation1% Number of Units (20 years)30M Achievable Technical Potential (aMW over 20 years) 185

Questions for RTF  Are 300 kWh savings for infrared power strips reasonable?  How should savings be decremented to account for increasing TV/computer efficiency?  Are there more recent data on applicability of power strips to home entertainment or home offices? 10

SINGLE-FAMILY WEATHERIZATION 11

SF Weatherization  Includes:  Attic, floor, and wall insulation  Windows  Infiltration Control (not in 6P)  Levels of insulation and associated savings & cost taken from recent RTF workbook  Number of units based on RBSA for 7P  For 6P, based on pre-1980 vintage cohort 12

SF Weatherization  RTF measures are by climate zone, HVAC system type  E.g. Insulate Attic - R0 to R38 - Heating Zone 1 (Electric FAF)  For 7P, RBSA data are not robust at this level of granularity for baseline saturations  In 7P, measures are bundled by HVAC system type at regional level  E.g. Insulate Attic – R0 to R38_Electric FAF 13
