Replacement of 4-lamp, 4-foot T12 with 4-lamp HPT8 Constant Parameters ParameterPossible ValuesFurther Explanation and Sources Space Conditioning Interaction % kWh: 15% therms: 0.033 therms/kWh (Only applied to interior Room Types) This value is applied to the gross savings (Gross Savings x (1-0.15)) to reflect the net positive effects from heat gain associated with conditioned space lighting. The value depends on % Space Heat Interaction, an Electric Heating Market Share %, HVAC- type weights, and HVAC-type heating efficiencies that are developed in external RTF workbooks. 4 Measure Summary Sheet 4 Unit Energy Savings (UES) Estimation Method, Parameters and Sources Measure TypeUES ComponentAnalysis approach Primary Parameter / Adjustment Factor Baseline DescriptionEfficient Case DescriptionBaseline SourceEfficient Case Source Conversion of T12 lighting to HPT8 One Component Savings is determined by calculating the difference between the annual kWh consumptions of a fixture with T12 lamps and a fixture with High Performance T8 lamps. Assumed wattage and daily hours-of-use (HOU) of the fixtures depend on room type. Lamp wattage per fixture type Varies by fixture type: 1-lamp, 4-foot T12: 48W 2-lamp, 4-foot T12: 82W 3-lamp, 4-foot T12:130W 4-lamp, 4-foot T12:164W 1-lamp, 8-foot T12: 83W 2-lamp, 8-foot T12: 138W 3-lamp, 8-foot T12: 221W 4-lamp, 8-foot T12: 276W Varies by fixture type: 1-lamp, 4-foot HPT8: 27W 2-lamp, 4-foot HPT8: 50W 3-lamp, 4-foot HPT8: 76W 4-lamp, 4-foot HPT8: 101W 1-lamp, 4-foot HPT8: 27W 2-lamp, 4-foot HPT8: 63W 3-lamp, 4-foot HPT8: 72W 4-lamp, 4-foot HPT8: 104W Wattages for baseline case (T12) and efficient case (HPT8) taken from ETO lighting tool which were developed by lighting industry professionals utilizing common combinations of fixtures, lamps, and ballast factors found in the market.

7 Savings methodology Baseline and target wattages from lighting calculator tool Hours of use from KEMA and DOE studies applicable to kitchens – 2009 KEMA study – 2.5 Hrs/day for Single Family Kitchens – 2010 DOE study – 2.3 Hrs/day for Single Family Kitchens De-rating for space heat interaction from 6 th Power Plan (15%) Multiply fixture delta watts by kitchen hours of use and de-rate to get savings kWh savings = [W (base) – W (target) ]/1000 X HOU X 365 X (1-Space Interaction factor) 7

8 If Small Saver, also need… Estimate of regional potential – Distribution of linear fluorescent lamps in residential kitchens – Number of kitchens in region – Distribution of baseline fixture types in kitchen e.g. 4’ T12 1-lamp vs. 4’ T12 4-lamp Measure Summary TableRegional Potential Table Existing Equipment T12 Watts HPT8 Watts Delta Watts Hours of use kWh savings per year Kitchen install applicability Weighted Average savings (kWh) Regional applicability Total Regional potential (MWa) 4', 1 lamp T12 48 27 21 2.5 165% 391.5% 5.1 4', 2 lamp T12 82 50 32 2.5 2450% 4', 3 lamp T12 130 76 54 2.5 425% 4', 4 lamp T12 164 101 63 2.5 4910% 8', 1 lamp T12 83 27 56 2.5 432% 8', 2 lamp T12 138 63 75 2.5 5825% 8', 3 lamp T12 221 72 149 2.5 1152% 8', 4 lamp T12 276 104 172 2.5 1331%

9 Next Steps for S/R subcommittee Should this continue as down the small saver path? – Sufficient data appears to exist to estimate savings for 1-for- 1 lamp change-outs Two large end-use studies exist to predict number of hours per day, which is primary variable – DOE study information can likely estimate regional potential Are certain change-out combinations preferred? Comparison of regional lighting calculator baseline and target case wattages Anything else missing? 9
