How to: Write your Product Story To inspire others about Herbalife and how it can help them September 2013

Your story is important! WHY? Good stories prove to others about the benefits of Herbalife and help promote your business Credible stories inspire others and make them feel confident, allowing you to build a relationship True stories help to teach other Distributors about how they can make the most out of their own story Balanced nutrition stories show prospects that Herbalife is about good nutrition and a healthy active lifestyle Strengthens our brand principles as well as your cross-selling opportunities

These guidelines are important To help you write your best possible story, Herbalife has provided these guidelines to help you to be in compliance with European law. Legislation in the EU and neighbouring countries requires that personal success stories (testimonials) MUST comply with guidelines or they are breaking the law. If your story is not compliant, we can’t use it. Herbalife cannot use your story if it doesn’t follow these guidelines This includes stories prepared for: Events & on-stage presentations Printed & online materials Your organisation may also be at risk if enforcement officials see any non-compliant product stories

Easy-to-use templates Templates help you create a personal, inspiring and legally compliant story

4. How did you achieve success? 1.Story headline 3. Key changes: What were your habits before Herbalife? What do you do now? 2. Photos: Prior to starting Herbalife & once you reached your goal 4. How did you achieve success?

1. Story headline This sums up in 1 sentence how you feel now you’ve achieved your success 2. Photos Choose 1 photo from when you first started Herbalife, and 1 for when you reached your goal (weight loss, fitness, lifestyle). Remember: use good quality photo which are in focus Remember: your ‘goal’ photo should help display your new active lifestyle

3. What were your habits before starting with Herbalife? What do you do now? Choose from a list of phrases 4. How did you achieve your success? List the 4-5 key changes you made to your daily diet, exercise, nutrition knowledge. Don’t forget the advice and encouragement received from family, friends and your Herbalife coach.

Share your great product story Use the template to create a story that is: Powerful and compliant - get a strong story that complies with legal requirements Quick and easy - choose from a list of phrases to show the key changes “I used to…” and “Now I…”. Great product stories will help continue to strengthen & reinforce the Herbalife brand as well help you retail products.

Want to write a longer story? Here are 4 quick and simple steps to help you develop an editorial style personal and inspiring story Remember: the focus of your story is not just the products – it’s about being active, making healthy nutrition choices such as balanced meals all supported by Herbalife products.

1. What got you started? How did you find out about Herbalife? e.g. at gym, family, friend What was your routine like? e.g. busy mum, hectic job, unaware of good nutrition principles Which products did you start using? e.g. F1 Chocolate mixed with a banana to replace one meal a day as well as Herbalifeline because I don’t eat fish. What results did you get/feel? e.g. Feelings of energy, reasonable weight loss (max of 1kg (2 lbs) per week) because I took two shakes a day and a healthy meal in the evening. What was your view on good nutrition then? e.g. I didn’t really understand what I needed to give my body in terms of good nutrition.

2. What you started to discover? How did you feel? e.g. New feeling of more energy, I became more confident, improved my fitness. Lose any weight? Great if you did, just do not mention over what period of time. “Reasonable weight loss” equals no more than 1kg (2lbs) per week from a starting point that does NOT represent clinical obesity. Following on from any products you started using, did you inspire yourself to improve your nutrition and lifestyle habits? e.g. Absolutely, Herbalife taught me to look after myself by making healthy nutrition choices for meals, breakfast, snacks etc. I also learnt the body needs to be kept active! What can you do now, that you couldn’t do before? e.g. by making smarter nutrition choices and becoming more active: I get up early, get the kids ready, have time for a run or doing the gardening…

3. Your view on nutrition and life today? How did your view on nutrition change? e.g. I didn’t realise just which nutrients the body requires and how much… What are your nutrition habits today? e.g. Herbalife inspires me to think about nutrition choices every day and lead a healthier lifestyle Are you fitter and healthier today? e.g. for sure, I see Herbalife involved in sports and that makes me think about what I do each day – even if it’s as simple as walking instead of catching the bus. I feel great and positive! Made any permanent lifestyle changes? e.g. I joined the gym, take more walks on the weekends, even trekked all the way to Maccu Piccu at the age of 60!

4. So, how do you feel today? About yourself? e.g. positive, active, healthy, confident, smarter about nutrition, feel younger than ever, much more energy, enjoy sweating in the gym Who have you shared the Herbalife view on nutrition with? e.g. My family and friends now use Herbalife products. I still consume Shakes even though I don’t need to lose weight – it just tastes great with so many recipes. Anything else that you consider personal to YOUR story?

Product Story Example – Long version

Product Story example - Long version “My entire lifestyle has improved and I now have so much energy!” “Before I found Herbalife, I worked a 50 hour week and commuted 50 miles each day. I was overweight due to ill health and some poor eating habits. As I got older, the weight crept on. With low energy levels and always feeling tired, I had become disillusioned with myself and my life.” My husband and I were unaware of Herbalife and the impact it would have on our future lives until the day Roger came across a Herbalife branded car. It belonged to our now sponsors, who needed help to start the car. It was then that we learnt about the products and found out about the business opportunity. I am so grateful to Roger for asking the question – “HOW?” Within the first week of taking the products I lost over 2lbs and I couldn’t believe my increased energy. I began with the weight loss programme, taking two shakes a day along with Herbal Complex. As the weeks passed, I continued to lose weight and inches; my percentage body fat decreased and my fitness levels began to increase. Life was easier and I became even more active; I enjoyed sports and activities again after many years. I gradually started using other products: Herbalifeline, Tang Kuei, Xtra-Cal, as well as the full range of outer nutrition. My entire lifestyle has improved and I now have so much energy! I wake up early, go to bed later and I never stop during the day; I live my life to its absolute fullest. With my improved fitness, better nutrition habits and Herbalife products, I lost over 40 lbs in total and dropped 4 dress sizes. I feel like I am in my twenties again, not in my fifties! Now, my whole family use Herbalife products and we can’t believe how our lives have changed for the BETTER!” Wendy Watson, UK

Do’s and Don’ts European law affects the claims you make when presenting your product story (testimonial).

Do’s and Don’ts DO: Include a reasonable weight loss claim associated with a change in lifestyle. Include your Herbalife products, together with some indication of a balanced and varied diet and an increase in physical activity (for example: a 30 minute walk, some gardening, playing with the children, etc.); Refer to “reasonable weight loss,” defined as loss of no more than 1 kg (or 2 lb) per week, from a starting point that does not represent clinical obesity (as a guide, a clinically obese person is one with a BMI over 30); Use before and after pictures if you want to illustrate your results. Be sure that the weight loss pictorially represented is reasonable; Talk about overall lifestyle changes in your testimonial, not just about weight loss. DON’T: Don’t attach any specific weight loss claim just to the use of Herbalife Formula 1; Don’t use the actual words “before” and “after” next to weight loss pictures; Don’t use pictures that depict excessive weight loss; Don’t use excessive weight loss claims over a short period of time; Don’t give any ‘guarantees’. Everyone is different; results are individual and may vary.

Great product stories will help continue to strengthen and reinforce the Herbalife brand as well as help you retail products. But if we don’t know about your story, then we can’t put it in magazines, news articles, events etc. So if you have a proud story to share, then please send it to your local Sales & Marketing team.
