Introduction Every year the ESL classes work on many writing projects. Their Thanksgiving book is the product of our first quarter of English Language Arts activities. Some students have been here only a few weeks and some – a little longer. All Beginner and Intermediate level students worked very hard to create their original stories. Most students prepared three or four drafts, using various computer programs and internet resources and most of all-their personal experience-to complete their assignments. The result is a book containing the following chapters: Thanksgiving, My Name, The Most Wonderful Things About Me. The writing of my students is always honest and beautiful. From the ten-year-old to the fifteen-year-old - they all completed with excellence the challenging task of expressing feelings and thoughts in English. I am very proud of them all!

My first day in the United States was beautiful because I was going to be in New York with my mom. I had to change my whole world and change my life completely. Nothing is easy here. My favorite holiday is Thanksgiving. It is the nicest holiday for me and my family. We enjoy Thanksgiving a lot because we all gather in my house and we have dinner together. I love Thanksgiving a lot because my birthday is coming soon on November 22, and it is very close to Thanksgiving. I know that I will have a great time with all my family. My grandma is coming to visit me from El Salvador because she loves me a lot and I love her a lot. She will bring me a lot of nice presents. I love to be with her because when she comes she brings me jocotes – very special fruit from El Salvador. I love to eat them because they make me think of El Salvador. HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
