About Myself

About Myself First of all let me introduce myself. My name is Ann. I was born on May 8, 1991 in Urmary. I live in Urmary, far from Moscow. I'm in the 11-th grade. There is one more kid in the family besides me – my younger brother Maksim. I’m doing quite well at school. My parents are proud of my marks. I am always very busy, but when I am free I like to read books, watch TV, listen to music. In a year I shall finish my school and I have to decide what occupation to choose. I want to be a psychologist.

My Family My family is not very large, just a typical family. I have a father, a mother, and a little brother. My father Victor Petrovich is 41 years old. He is serious but very friendly. He is a tall and well- built man with short black hair and brown eyes. He is a builder. He likes his job. My mother Galina Ivanovna is 36 years old. She works as a nurse in the kindergarten. She is very kind. I think she is the best mum in the world. She is tall with brown hair and brown eyes. Her hobby is gardening and cultivation of flowers. She often sews and knits in the evening. My younger brother Maksim is only three years old, he goes to the kindergarten. He is very funny, I like to spend my free time teaching him something. Maksim likes to play with his toys, read books.

My Friends Friendship is a very important thing in people’s lives. I have lots of friends around me. They make my life more interesting and enjoyable. Now I’d like to tell you about my best friend Lena. She is my classmate. We have been studying together in one form all the eleven years of our school- life. She is 16. We have nothing in common in appearance. Lena is pretty in her own way. She is thin and slender, not very tall. Her hair is brown. She has beautiful brown eyes with bushy eyelashes. Lena is as good as gold. Warm- hearted and gentle, quiet and well bred. Everyone loves her. She is always well dressed and neat. She is always ready to help people, when they are in need. I like to be around her, because she knows a lot of interesting stories, funny jokes. She is fond of reading. Lena goes in for sports. She plays basketball. She does well at school and it seems to me that all the subjects come equally easy to her. We meet at the weekends. We discuss our problems, listen to music and visit our friends. I always enjoy the time we spend together. I am happy to have such a friend as Lena. I am sure we shall be friends forever.

My School My school is a three- storeyed building. It is quite big with a sport ground behind it. On the ground floor there are classrooms, workshops, a library. There are all kinds of tools and machines in the workshops. The boys of our school have a woodwork room too. There is a room for manual works for girls. Teachers teach them how to cook, sew and design clothes. Our school library is nice and clean. One librarian helps pupils to find books they need. There are many bookshelves with a lot of books there. In school there is a dinning-room. It is always busy and noisy, but it is clean. Here pupils and their teachers have their lunch. There is a gymnasium on the first floor. Pupils like to go there even after the lessons, because it has a lot of sport equipment. There are special classrooms for Chemistry, Physics, Biology, History, Geography, English, and Russian. Our classroom is on the second floor. Our form-mistress is a teacher of History. We respect her very much, she is kind. I like studying. My favourite proverb is “Live and learn”.

My Household Duties This is my last year at school, and I work hard to pass my final exams successfully. As I am very busy, I can’t help my parents much in keeping the house. But still I have some household duties. Every day I do my room and my bed, wash up dishes. Once a week I help my mother to do all other work about the house. We wash our linen, iron and mend it, clean the flat. We beat the dust out of the carpets, vacuum the floors and polish them. It’s not difficult to keep the flat tidy if you do your rooms regularly. This is my usual round of duties. But sometimes I have some other things to do. When my mother is ill or away from home, I do the cooking and the washing up and buy food.
