Ball Pean Hammer Description: Wooden handle & double sided metal head. Flat end is used for: Forging – flattening and stretching the metal. Round end is used for: Hammer texturing – makes little shiny dots that are small when hit lightly & larger when hit harder. Located: metal drawer area

Anvil Description: Harden steel work surface Uses: Used for forging metal. Allows the metal to stretch more effectively because it “hits” the metal on both sides at once. Located: in the tall closet on the first shelf.

Rawhide Mallet Description: Wooden handle & rawhide head. Uses: This tool is used to work harden metal. Located: metal drawer area

Flat Nose Jeweler’s Pliers Description: Two flat jaws and metal handles Uses: makes flat or squared off shapes in wire. Located: your assigned kit.

Round Nose Jeweler’s Pliers Description: Two round jaws and metal handles Uses: Makes S curves or rounded shapes in wire Located: your assigned kit.

Chain Nose Jeweler’s Pliers Description: Two flat jaws that are round on the outside and metal handles Uses: Makes C shaped curves in wire Located: your assigned kit.

Half Round Jeweler’s Pliers Description: One square and one round jaw and metal handles Uses: Makes complex shapes in wire Located: in the pliers drawer

Forming Jeweler’s Pliers Description: One square and one round jaw and metal handles Uses: Makes complex shapes in wire Located: the pliers drawer.

Bracelet Mandrel Description: large oval rod on a mounting frame Uses: Used to make bracelet shapes (rawhide mallet) Located: second shelf of the tall cabinet

Dappeling Block/Punch Description: Harden steel metal block and hardened steel punches Uses: makes domed metal shapes (use a regular hammer) Located: in the tall closet on the first shelf

Wire Cutters Description: Cutting jaws and metal handles Uses: Cuts wire Located: in your assigned kit.

Jeweler’s Saw Description: C shaped frame and wooden handle Uses: Cuts shapes out of metal Located: Hanging in the tall closet – ask teacher for replacement blades

V-Board Description: Wooden board with a V cut out of it and a silver table clamp. Uses: Extends the work surface to allow precision metal cutting without ruining the table edge. Located: in the marked metal drawers cabinet

Ring Clamp Description: wooded “scissors” and “doorstop” Uses: Holds small pieces of metal so they are easier to work on Located: in the tall closet on the second shelf

Flat File Description: flat blade Uses: to remove metal in a flat or curved area Located: in the marked metal drawer cabinet

Round File Description: Description: circular File Uses: To file Round areas Located: Marked metal drawer area

Half Round Hand File Description: half round blade Uses: to remove metal in a flat or curved area Located: in the marked metal drawer cabinet

Jeweler’s Files Tiny files used to remove tiny bits of metal. Use only when a hand file doesn’t fit!

Hand Files Large files (larger than your hand) used to remove large amounts of metal. Use these first!

Steel Wool Description: Spun metal pad Uses: To remove scratches Located: in marked metal drawer

Emery Paper Description: Black Paper Uses: To remove scratches Located: in marked metal drawer
