First Access allows a user to initiate and obtain managed access to a patient record to which they do not currently have access. Requires users to provide specific information in order to receive access to the patient record –Hard Stops: First/Last Name, DOB and Sex –First Access to patient is currently set for 10 days First Access MD Link First Access

Patient may not exist in UCSF system when an external provider is placing a Referral /eConsult or Radiology / Lab order to UCSF. Allows for end user to create patient and complete workflow w/o UCSF MD Link Team intervention. User will first search using “First Access” workflow to determine if patient already exist. If patient not found user will click “Create New” Patient Creation MD Link Patient Create

Without First Access: –A referring physician, or covering PCP colleague cannot access patient’s record –A primary care physician is locked out if UCSF has not accurately entered the PCPs info (common) –With the creation of BCP, and affiliations with MGH, SRMH and WHHS, a new cadre of affiliated physicians will come on line, initially relying on MD link.
