What do you think the story is about? A.The history of the USA B.Friends and friendship C.American presidents D.Friendship between American presidents

Their friendship grew as they worked on … What did they work on? A.The Declaration of Independence B.Emancipation Proclamation C.The Bill of Rights D.The Statue of Liberty

3. the Declaration of Independence. After the end of the Revolutionary War they were both sent to France to serve their country by making treaties. When Adams was then sent to London, the two men wrote to each other. Jefferson's letters expressed his respect for Adams. When Jefferson visited the Adamses in London in 1786, Adams's wife, Abigail, wrote to her sister that Jefferson was one of the best men in the world. But in 1789 the two friends disagreed over... What did they disagree over? A.The Civil War B.The Indian War C.The Revolutionary War D.The French Revolution treaties - договоры

4.the revolution in France. Jefferson supported it, but Adams was not sure. They also disagreed about the role of government in their own nation. Adams, a Federalist, wanted... What kind of government did Adams want? A.a strong central government B.strong states' governments C.a smaller central government D.larger states' governments

5. a strong central government, Jefferson, a republican, believed that states' rights were most important. In the presidential election of 1796 Adams and Jefferson opposed each other. Who do you think won the election? A.George Washington B.Abraham Lincoln C.John Adams D.Thomas Jefferson

6.Adams won. Jefferson became Vice President. But Jefferson wanted Adams to know that he didn't mind being the second in the election, and he told him,"I have no ambition to govern men." Two years later, however, their friendship was in danger when Adams sent to prison publishers who spoke against government. What was wrong in Adams's actions? What right do you think was violated? (нарушено) A.Amendment 1. Freedom of speech, freedom of the press, freedom of religion. B.Amendment 2. The right to keep Arms. C.Amendment 5. The right to private property. D.Amendment 6. the right to have defence in court.

7.Citizens' First Amendment rights were violated, Jefferson said. Jefferson defeated Adams in the next election. Hurt by his defeat in the election, Adams went home to Massachusets, missing Jefferson's inagauration. Jefferson pardoned everyone whom Adams had sent to prison. Besides, Adams's son lost his post. Both Adams and his wife Abigai blamed Jefferson. Jefferson and Adams wrote several more letters but they were filled with hurt. To stop pain, they... What did they do to stop pain? A.Both went to the doctor B.Took some medicine C.Stopped writing letters D.Decided not to take part in the elections any more

8.they stopped writing. Dr Rush called the argument between Jefferson and Adams "a national misfortune". After all, the two men were symbols of American independence. A.They were never friends again. B.Dr Rush encouraged both men to start writing letters again C.They died a month later D.Dr Rush was sent to prison

9.He encouraged both men to start writing to each other again. For fourteen years after that, the two old friends wrote to each other, discussing natural science, history, architecture, religion, art and agriculture. 12.What do you think the title of the story is? A.American History B.Independence Day C.Friendship D.Two famous Friends
