Using Different Views from the PowerPoint Window Normal is the default view where you will create and edit your slides in the center slide pane and all the slides will appear on the slides tab in the left task pane. Slide Sorter is a view of your slides in thumbnail form. The slides are presented horizontally, which allows you to see more slides at a time. Slide Show view fills the computer screen with your presentation so you can see how the presentation will appear to the audience. PUA – Computer Engineering Department – UEC01 – Dr. Mona Abou - Of7

PowerPoint Main Features Feature 1: Create a new slide. Feature 2: Select a slide layout. Feature 3: Themes and Background Styles. Feature 4: Custom Animation. Feature 5: Transitions between slides. Feature 6: Add sounds and Videos. PUA – Computer Engineering Department – UEC01 – Dr. Mona Abou - Of8

PUA – Computer Engineering Department – UEC01 – Dr. Mona Abou - Of9

Feature 2: Select a slide layout. A slide layout arranges your slide content. Layouts contain different types of placeholders that you can use depending on what information you want to include in your presentation. Each layout has a descriptive name. PUA – Computer Engineering Department – UEC01 – Dr. Mona Abou - Of10

Feature 3: Themes and Background Styles A theme is a predefined combination of colors, fonts, and effects that can be applied to your presentation. PowerPoint includes built-in themes that allow you to easily create professional-looking presentations without spending a lot of time formatting. Background styles can be added to your slides after a theme is applied. The styles are fill variations based on theme colors. When you switch to a different theme, the background styles are updated based on the new theme colors. PUA – Computer Engineering Department – UEC01 – Dr. Mona Abou - Of11

Feature 4: : Custom Animation Animating Text and Objects. In PowerPoint you can animate text and objects such as clip art, shapes, and pictures on the slide. Animation, or movement, on the slide can be used to draw the audience's attention to specific content or to make the slide easier to read. Feature 5: Transitions between slides. transitions are the movements you see when one slide changes to another in slide show view. PUA – Computer Engineering Department – UEC01 – Dr. Mona Abou - Of13

Feature 6: Add sounds and Videos Object Linking and Embedding (OLE) allows you to insert a movie or audio sound into your PowerPoint presentation. You can insert a movie or audio file from a file on your computer or from the Microsoft Office clip organizer. Feature 1: Hyperlinks and Action Buttons A hyperlink is a connection from one slide to a web page, address, slide, or file. Text or objects such as pictures and shapes can be formatted as a hyperlink. Action buttons are built-in button shapes that you can add to a presentation and use as a hyperlink. When someone clicks or moves over the button, the action can occur. PUA – Computer Engineering Department – UEC01 – Dr. Mona Abou - Of16

Feature 2:Master Slide. A Master Slide is a template that is used for the other slides in the presentation. You can set fonts, colors, textboxes, bullets, footers and inserting objects. Once the Master Slide is set up, each time you insert a new slide, it will have the same formatting as your Maser Slide. That way, you don't have to keep formatting each slide individually. PUA – Computer Engineering Department – UEC01 – Dr. Mona Abou - Of17

Feature 2:Master Slide. Cont’d Is The easiest way to make the same change to all slides or slides that use a specific layout PUA – Computer Engineering Department – UEC01 – Dr. Mona Abou - Of18

Presentation skills Keep It Straight and Simple, Keywords only. Never read your slides, talk freely. Pick an easy to read font face. Carefully select font sizes for headers and text. consistently use the same font face and sizes on all slides. Black text on a white background will always be the best but also the most boring choice, if you want to use colors use maximum two colors. Keep the design very basic and simple. It shall not distract. Add Images: A picture can say more than a thousand words. But you need to keep copyrights in mind. Use animations to draw attention but also use maximum two colors in order not to distract. PUA – Computer Engineering Department – UEC01 – Dr. Mona Abou - Of19
