ONLINE RETAIL The technology I am talking about is online retail. More shops are doing online shopping, and more people are starting to use it as it is easier, quicker and there are more things online. Its good for people with different disability's who cant get out to the shops. I love online retail because I’m into shopping but doing it online is so much easier and I feel I know a lot about it and its history.

ONLINE RETAIL In my presentation I will be talking about how much easier and quicker it is using online retail, also about how helpful it is for people with disability's. I will then talk about the history of online retail from when amazon and eBay came out to now. Online retail is good because it lets you see what it would look like on other people and all the sizes.

ONLINE RETAIL Online shopping) is a form of electronic commerce which allows consumers to directly buy goods or services from a seller over the Internet using a web browser. Alternative names are: e-web-store, e-shop, e-store, Internet shop, web- shop, web-store, online store, online storefront and virtual store. Mobile commerce (or m-commerce) describes purchasing from an online retailer's mobile optimized online site or app.

WHAT IS ONLINE RETAIL USED FOR? Online retail is used for shops such as, new look, Topshop, river island which are all clothes shops and are many other there also some supermarkets that are online such as, Tesco, Sainsbury's, asda, and lots others as well. What people us online retail for; Shop for groceries Shop for clothes Shop for presents Shop for games Shop for phones

WHO INVENTED ONLINE RETAIL? English entrepreneur Michael Aldrich invented online shopping in His system connected a modified domestic TV to a real-time transaction processing computer via a domestic telephone line. BornMichael John Aldrich 22 August 1941 Brocket Hall Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire, England Brocket Hall Died19 May 2014 (aged 72) ResidenceUK, US, Portugal NationalityUK Alma materUniversity of Hull Known forInformation Technology as a participative communications medium; Online Shopping; e-commerce;Teleputer;Wired City;Innovative Information Systems

HISTORY OF ONLINE RETAIL Toward the end of 1994, MONEY magazine published a story about the sharp rise in consumers shopping from home. That year, some 98 million consumers made $60 billion worth of purchases from home, nearly all of it through phone orders prompted by mail catalogues and TV shopping channels. Online shopping was invented, implemented and successful very quickly – less than a week between idea and rough experimental model, less than 6 months to productionise hardware and software and less than 12 months from product release to the first operational system, the world’s first direct Business to Business (B2B) online shopping system in 1981[Thomson Holidays]. In online shopping the buyer is connected interactively with the seller’s computer system. No third parties are involved. When a third party is involved that is usually called e-commerce. The Rediffusion computer system used for online shopping was open, using standard communications hardware and a standard human interface. Any terminal could talk to any suitably equipped computer. Any number of applications could be available. The systems were very simple and easy- to-use.

FUTURE OF ONLINE RETAIL Shopping online is about to explode. Retailers of all types are expanding product offerings, adding in-store pickup, free shipping and experimenting with social media. Be it via a mobile device, tablet computer, in-store kiosk or computer. Amazon has been testing 30-minute drone delivery. Their knowledge of who is in the store; where they move in the space; and the products they interact with, will all be instantly and continually calculated," Stephens writes. "When we walk into a physical store, our browsing history will follow us and inform our physical shopping experience. Apple has recently implemented blue-tooth technology that senses who is in the store. Consumers are increasingly concerned about their privacy while shopping online, and will begin to pay for services that keep them anonymous. Additionally, retailers are going to have to do more to reassure customers that their purchasing data is safe. Retailers will begin to test out "dynamic pricing" in stores, allowing them the same competitive advantage as websites like Amazon and Priceline.

DIFFERENT SHOPS ONLINE Went online in 2007

FIRST ONLINE SHOP

DISADVANTAGES OF ONLINE SHOPPING You don’t get the exercise you get walking round the shops. You cant try anything on. Don’t get to socialise. Have to pay for delivery. Sometimes have to pay to send items back. Takes a while to come. Not many sales. Risky putting card details in the computer.

LEGAL A US federal judge said Facebook Inc must face a nationwide class-action lawsuit seeking to force the social media company to provide refunds when children spend their parents’ money on its website without permission. US District Judge Beth Labson Freeman in San Jose, California on Tuesday said a class of plaintiffs estimated in the hundreds of thousands may press their claim that Facebook should change how it handles online transactions by minors. The judge also said the plaintiffs could not pursue refunds as a group under US Supreme Court precedent, because any refunds would vary from case to case, but could still seek individual refunds. She set an 19 October trial date. Facebook did not immediately respond to requests for comment. The April 2012 lawsuit said Facebook let children use their parents’ credit and debit cards to buy the virtual currency Facebook Credits, and violated California law by refusing refunds under its “all sales are final” policy when the parents complained.Facebook Hacking into accounts which is purchasing items on someone else's account is against the law and online retail shops need more privacy settings. Online line shops need to tighter in order for this to stop.

ETHICAL Having an account online can lead to people hacking into your account and you need to set privacy settings. This may give the retail company a bad name if it happens too much. Websites can prevent this by checking there policies and getting tighter on their security.

SOCIAL Shopping online could make you less social because you should get up and go out with friends and be active shopping this could make health problems for certain people that are just going to sit and order items of clothing online another disappoint to use online shopping is that you cant try on the item.
