USING WORD

 I have used Microsoft word to help me with my coursework and important documents, for example Business BTEC coursework, a CV for my new job, Science coursework to type up my experiment outcome and health and social coursework for a care home. EXAMPLES OF USING WORD TO WRITE UP SOME COURSEWORK

 The advantages of using Microsoft word is that you can use spell check which means if your not sure of a word you have spelt you can check if its right or not. Also, another advantage is that you can make improvements and corrections because it may tell you if it makes sense or not. Using Microsoft word also looks very professional and when printing a piece of work out and the last thing is that if someone sends you a piece of work you can also open it at home and look at it on your computer or laptop. ADVANTAGES OF USING WORD

 The disadvantages of using Microsoft Word is that sometimes you can have a problem saving work because sometimes you forget or it doesn’t save. Another disadvantage is that Microsoft may work better at school than at home and you may have problems using it without a memory stick. You can also have printing issues with word because sometimes all your work may not be on one page and a sentence may go onto another and also when printing it may not print the right way. DISADVANTAGES OF USING WORD

 Personally I prefer using Microsoft Word because I like my work to look professional because I think it gives a good impression about me. I also like how you can have a spell check to check your spelling and grammar. I also think that it is faster to type up your work on Word than using a pen and paper. GENERAL CONCLUSION USING MICROSOFT WORD

E-SAFETY

 Social media is a lot more popular to teenagers and young adults now-a-days. A lot of teenagers have apps on their phones for social media sites. I use 4 different social media sites, for example Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Snapchat. There is 2 that I use more than others, I use Instagram and twitter more than Facebook and Snapchat. Facebook is used by a lot of people when people have a profile and can upload statuses and photos but can also comment and like on other peoples statuses and photos and can message other people. A lot of people also use Twitter when you can Tweet celebrities and follow them and they can follow you back. Instagram is where you can only upload photos but you can comment on other peoples photos and you can also like them. Snapchat is where you can send photos and videos to someone with a small caption and they can send you a photo back. You can also add photos and videos to your Snapchat story which all your friends you have on Snapchat can see. SOCIAL MEDIA

 There is quite a few dangers of using a social media site. One of them is Cyber-bullying, a lot of people get bullied over the internet some by people they know and some people they don’t know. A lot of bullying can happen on Facebook when someone starts private messaging someone nasty and hurtful things and it can knock someone's confidence if someone is being horrible because it will affect them. Some people that are bullied online sometime feel like they can’t talk to anyone about it because they make think that the person can not help and also the bully will do or say something to them if they tell someone. Another danger of using social media is identity theft where someone will take your photos, personal details and name and will pretend to be you and talk to other people and ask if they want to meet up and it will be the person pretending to be you instead of it actually being you. Identity theft often happens on Facebook. DANGERS OF SOCIAL MEDIA SITES

 Staying safe online is very important. To stay safe online you’ll need to use passwords for your social media accounts only a password you would know. You will need to have privacy settings so you can set them so someone you don’t know can’t see your profile especially on Facebook because otherwise someone could save your photos and pretend to be you. To stay safe online you also don’t want to put any personal information on their, for example address, mobile number, what school you go to etc. because otherwise anyone may be able to see it. STAYING SAFE ONLINE

E-MAIL

 An E-Mail can have different features to it, for example Emails can be saved and kept a record of what's being said, so you can look back at the email. Another example is Emails can be sent to one person or a group of people, so that you can all email in a group so you only have to send one email instead of separate ones to everyone and the last feature is that you can send an email with an attachment so that you can send a document to someone or photos to someone and still send an email at the same time. DIFFERENT FEATURES OF AN E-MAIL

 The advantages of Emails is that time taken up more if you have a meeting with someone but with an email it takes up less time because you can have a group of people on the email which means you can have everyone from the meeting on the group email. If you are having to go to a meeting with someone you have to travel to the place and move around a lot which takes up a lot more time but instead you could just stay in one place and use the email instead so you don’t have to travel around everywhere, especially if the person you are speaking with lives in a different country it can be easier to speak over email. With an email with a group of people it is easier to share information with them because you can email them all and they can all see and understand the information and one person won’t be talking over one person more than the other one because they are in a group email and if they wanted to show them an idea, for example a picture then can just sent it as an attachment on the email and explain their idea in the email as well. ADVANTAGES OF AN EMAIL INSTEAD OF MEETING WITH SOMEONE

 The disadvantages of using email is that you can’t see someone's reaction to your idea, so you aren’t able to see their facial expression to tell if they like your idea or not. Another disadvantage is that emails can be misunderstood more easily so that someone could take your email the wrong way because its easier in person for someone to understand what you are trying to say. The last disadvantage is that some people prefer to meet and interact instead of emailing because they prefer to talk to someone in person because then the person can understand them more and what they are talking about. DISADVANTAGES OF USING EMAIL

 Sometimes an email can be better especially if the other person lives in a different country because it is hard to go and see that person, so instead you can email them and communicate that way. But on the other hand sometimes a meeting is better because they both may want to discuss something which they would rather do in person. CONCLUSION

LEGAL ISSUES

 The copyright legislation is where you use someone else work but you say where you got it from or who’s work it is. Breaking the copyright legislation is where you take someone else’s working but you claim it for your own or don’t say where you got it from. KEY PARTS OF COPYRIGHT LEGISLATION

 The key points of the school’s acceptable usage policy for computers are only access the school network and internet using my authorised username and password, which will remain private; nor will I use another person’s username, even if that person has given their permission. Another one is Not access, send or download any unacceptable or offensive material. This includes material of a violent, racist or pornographic nature. Not post messages on any internal or public forum, including social networking sites (e.g. Facebook), that may reflect badly on myself, other Hillview students, Hillview staff or the school in general. The last one is Not give my email address, name, home address, phone number or any other personal details to anyone I “meet” over the internet. These things are important because you need to stick to these rules because they are important. KEY POINTS OF THE SCHOOL’S ACCEPTABLE USAGE POLICY FOR COMPUTERS

 To make sure I am going to follow the copyright legislation I will make sure that any work I use I will give credit to the person who’s work it is and I will also say where I got it from.  To make sure I am going to follow the AUP I will only use the school computers and software for school purpose only and make sure I follow the rules.
