Show of your skill by making your studies the centre of attention – don’t overcrowd your page and hide your work away with the background!

Full page studies can be very effective and can really show the examiner what you can do.

Fold out sections can help you add more to ‘busy’ page, or can help you make your sketchbook more interesting.

Always keep your quick sketches and drawings, even if they’re not your best work. It’s all experimentation and development!

Collage can be a very quick, easy and effective background idea.

Use the double page in your sketchbook to present larger pieces of work.

Take lots of photographs! You can fill up your sketchbook quickly and it’s all brilliant primary research.

Magazines can be a great way to fill sketchbook pages with high quality images and get ideas for your work.

Try writing with white pen on a black background for a different look.

Try creative ways of annotating and presenting your titles, by experimenting with layouts and compositions.

Sometimes, just simple drawing on white backgrounds can be just as affective as busy, colourful pages.

Printing and stencilling can be a quick way to produce effective outcomes.

Cut up your sketchbook pages so you can see through windows of your pages, or see parts of other pages come through.

Use your fantastic Mehndi skills to your advantage. Use them to decorate pages or to add extra dimensions to your studies.

Mind maps can be a quick, effective and visually eye-catching way to present your ideas and artist research.

Produce A3 drawings and paintings by using the double page spread. Work straight onto the white background for an authentic feel and to show off your skills.

Don’t forget, make your sketchbook pages and studies quality. You could have the fanciest sketchbook in the world, but if your own art work isn’t up to scratch, you just can’t pick up marks.
