What is the Food Pyramid? The Food Pyramid acts as a guide to the types of foods that we need to eat and the amount of servings we need per day. We need to eat a variety of foods from each of the groups pictured for our bodies to stay healthy as we live and grow.

Food = Fuel for the body Just as a car need fuel in order to drive, our bodies need food to work properly. Food fuels our bodies and provides the energy and nutrients that we need to live. For our bodies to stay healthy it is important that we choose the right foods. If we fill a car with the wrong fuel, what do you think might happen?

Our bodies can not work like the are supposed to if we are not getting enough nutrients from food. Making the wrong food choices, can leave us tired and lacking energy, sad and grumpy, sick as well as overweight and unfit.
