The Pigman, for example, begins with a prologue titles “The Oath.” The purpose of a prologue is to give background information about the story that follows. After reading “The Oath,” what kind of story do you believe The Pigman will be? When, where, and how will it be told?

Insight into The Pigman The Pigman has 2 narrators, John & Lorraine. They are the main characters in the novel, as well as the “voices” that tell the story. John & Lorraine take turns explaining what happened, so that readers see events from John’s point of view in one chapter and Lorraine’s point of view in the next. Pay special attention to the comments that John & Lorraine make about each other. Like real-life best friends, they often have insights into each other’s personality.
