AIDS Daniel Tey (J)

Ways AIDS can be transmitted. AIDS can be transmitted through any sort of sexual contact Sharing blood with someone that is contaminated is also a way to get AIDS AIDS can be transmitted from mother to child too, (through breast feeding and birth)

Symptoms of AIDS People with AIDS cannot defend themselves from other diseases because their immune system is already disabled by the HIV virus. Additionally, people with AIDS often have systemic symptoms of infection like fevers, sweats, swollen glands, chills, weakness, and weight loss. http://www.dietsinreview.com/diet_column/wp-content/uploads/2008/12/sneezing.jpg

Treatment/cure for AIDS There is currently no cure for AIDS, but there is a highly active antiretroviral therapy also known as HAART that will slow down virus, but will not cure it. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Abacavir_(Ziagen)_300mg.jpg

AIDS prevention Do not have sexual contact with people who are AIDS positive, Do not share blood with people who have AIDS. Do not exchange body fluids with AIDS positive people.

Places most affected by AIDS South Africa, sub- Saharan Africa is devastated by AIDS the most. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:HIV_Epidem.png

What AIDS does to our lives AIDS is a serious disease that weakens your immune system, making you vulnerable to other diseases. You will not be able to work, and your family will have to pay extra for your medical fees to keep you alive as long as possible. An approximate of 3 million people die of AIDS every year and an approximate of 8,500 people die of AIDS Everyday!

Obstacles There are lots of obstacles, one of the most important now is the economic tsunami. The countries that are researching AIDS treatment will be forced to divert money from AIDS research to other economic beneficial things.

Possible steps to eradicate AIDS We can always pull more money form the government and try to research a vaccine for AIDS.

How serious is aids AIDS is not just a flu that you can get by easily, it will haunt you for life eventually killing you. Do you want this to happen to you?! http://www.oddee.com/_media/imgs/articles/a112_aids.jpg
