Progress Checks and Mentoring at St. Paul’s

 Familiarise ourselves with progress checks in preparation for mentoring day  To understand the target setting process for pupils at St. Paul’s

National Expected Progress: 3 Levels from KS2 St Paul’s Expected Progress: 4 Levels from KS2 English targets set from KS2 English result Maths set from the KS2 Maths result All other subjects are set from the average KS2 level

 On going assessments throughout the term  To parents three times a year – two progress checks and one full report  Year 7’s first progress check has attainment in core subjects only, but homework, effort and Learning Talents in all

 Mentors arranged for all pupils  Mentors to meet with pupils during allocated time on timetable  Purpose – look at the child as a learner across all subject areas  Mentoring meeting (15 mins) with child and parents to discuss targets and actions  Mentor will pass on concerns to subject teachers however parents are encouraged to contact teachers directly if a concern arises  Communication between parents and school.

Academic Mentoring Pupils meet with mentors prior to Mentoring Day Progress Checks Discussions about learning Target Setting  School timetable suspended for the day  Study tasks (recorded in planners) to complete at home for pupils  School library open during normal school hours, supervised by the library team  Appointment are sent in the post one month before the day.  Appointment times will usually be between 12 and 7pm.  Please contact your child’s mentor beforehand if you cannot make your appointment.  Contacting mentors – or phone call  Subject specific questions directly to subject teachers rather than mentors.  Have a specific place where they keep their materials and resources  Homework folder  Check planner regularly (every night)  Contact subject teachers if you have concerns about homework or homework is not set.
