Us UnLtd… The Story so far…

Background Established in March 2010 Founder Members all having experience of Housing Issues/Homelessness All aged To date have involved 20 young people Registered as a Company in March 2011 Board of Directors appointed April 2011 to include young people, and professionals

Current Developments Retail Shop T Shirt Printing Enterprise Fundraising, “The Vicious Cycle” Mystery Shopping for WAG Working in partnership with Clwyd Alyn Housing Association The Getaway – Our advice and information centre for young people at risk of homelessness which will include… Café, L4L Centre, Advice Centre, Shower Facilities, Training Flat.

The Future… Open “The Getaway” Building Develop work around peer mentoring and homelessness prevention with 14/15 year olds in Schools. Current members to acquire ASDAN in peer mentoring Work on developing other enterprises, possibly UnLtd Autos Involvement of more young people

All about us… Since the beginning of the project 50% of the young people have now moved on to work 35% of the young people have moved away from supported accommodation and are now maintaining their own tenancies

What we think… “I love volunteering with the most insane bunch of people I have ever met” “I now have a reason to get up in the mornings” “My aim is to carry on with this, we want to make a difference to young homeless people in our County” “When I first got involved, it was just something to do with my time, now it’s turned into a much bigger thing than I ever thought it would” “Being involved with Us UnLtd means a lot to me, and I’m pleased to have been involved since the beginning” “I hope to see Us UnLtd run as a successful business in the very near future” “Being part of Us UnLtd is like being part of a big family, we argue all the time, but we’re best of friends really!”

So what next… Continue to fundraise to get enough money together to open “The Getaway” Ensure a percentage of our income is raised by ourselves through our own enterprises Welcome new young people to the group and help them to move on Strive to ensure young people who engage with us have a part to play in developing local strategies to tackle youth exclusion, hopefully avoiding young people from becoming NEET and homeless Never stop talking about what we are doing!!
