2 What we do Provide a ‘one stop shop’ for advice on cancer diagnosis in pregnancy/post birth including links to localised services. Advocacy on behalf of our families. Including support at hospital appointments, help with benefit entitlements and employment rights advice. Emergency small grants for families. Anything from paying for help in the home and with childcare, payment to make up for unpaid leave taken by a partner or travel costs to and from appointments. In the event of a terminal diagnosis - grants up to £1000 for memory making activities such as a family holiday. Facilitating peer support in a supervised setting via the use of administrated internet forums for affected women, their partners and wider family members. A second forum for affected women, specific to those diagnosed with a molar pregnancy, was created in July 2015. This was as a direct response to the particular needs of this user group, whose situation was notably different from the majority of forum users, particularly in regard to the absence of a live birth. Where appropriate, staff provide support for all affected women individually via email, phone, social media and occasionally in person, thereby reducing isolation. In the event of the death of a mum, we continue to provide support both for the surviving partner and family.

3 This year the focus of the awareness week centres on Maintaining Normality For Women With Cancer Throughout The Pregnancy Journey Sadly we hear from many woman how they felt their pregnancy/new mum experience was taken away from them following their diagnosis or that the choices they should have had were removed. Many of our mums tragically lost a pregnancy as a result of diagnosis but were not provided with the necessary baby loss support that is so vital at such a devastating time. Mummy’s Star has supported nearly 250 families so far in the UK and Ireland. Key messages
