The BEDC Management Development Academy Facilitated by Organization Effectiveness Consultants

© Organization Effectiveness Consultants 2009 Page 2 "The BEDC staff did a great job in covering all aspects of management training vital for both pharmaceutical and diagnostic companies. I learned a lot and graduated as a more "mature" person thanks to the wealth of information that was conveyed to me by the knowledgeable presenters. I wish I had this training earlier; I could have avoided some pitfalls. I am better prepared now." V. Yamitha Perera, Ph.D. Senior Research Scientist Biosite/Inverness Medical Innovations

© Organization Effectiveness Consultants 2009 Page 3 "As part of my 2008 annual goals, I wanted to take a professional development management course. Having been a physician/scientist in the biopharmaceutical industry for the last 11 years, I also wanted to learn from individuals who knew my profession and had experience. What I found with the BEDC Management Development Academy was a group of biopharmaceutical professionals teaching fellow biopharmaceutical professionals very insightful management skills. After completing the course, I felt empowered and gained a tremendous amount of knowledge, which I apply to my everyday work. I truly enjoyed the coursework and recommend this course to anyone who wishes to expand their scope of knowledge as a manager." Samuel Dychter, M.D. Senior Medical Director Halozyme Therapeutics

© Organization Effectiveness Consultants 2009 Page 4 Optimer Pharmaceuticals The BEDC Management Development Academy provides managers, new and experienced alike, the tools to succeed in todays environment. Each class is topic focused and the mix of colleagues from local small companies helps to foster meaningful and relevant group discussions. My personal favorite was the session on Communication Styles which helped to remind me that we each have a preferred way to communicate. Understanding my own style and the style of others helps me to be a better communicator. Howard J. Dreskin, M.S. Director, Clinical Operations

© Organization Effectiveness Consultants 2009 Page 5 The BEDC management development academy provides an even balance of lecture and group exercises that keeps one engaged and stimulates participation. The tools provided allow an individual to evaluate and understand their strengths and areas that need improvement. All of the trainers are polite, respectful, dedicated and speak from years of experience. Sean Premeau Pharmaceutical Operations Associate Pharmatek Laboratories, Inc.

Our staff really enjoyed meeting other life science professionals, the exchange of ideas and challenges, the balance of theoretical lecture learning with interactive, chalk-full-of- exercise-learning that adults need, and the hot breakfast! I recommend the Academy and the OEC facilitators without hesitation. Lisa Kanetake Senior Director, Human Resources Ardea Biosciences
