2019-20 Incoming Student Pre-arrival Information International Foundation Programmes at the International Education Institute

We’ve changed our name! You may have heard from us during your application process as English Language Teaching (ELT) or the Centre for International Foundation Programmes. We have recently changed our name to International Education Institute (IE). We will still use IFP (International Foundation Programme) and you may notice ELT and CIFP in some of our online or print materials but our web pages and documents will be updated to match the new name International Education Institute (or “IE”) in due course.

Matriculation Matriculation is the process of registering as a student with the University and is compulsory for all students. After receiving a conditional offer you should activate you University email and computer account . Pre-arrival Moodle - Upload a photo for your student card. - Complete the Doctors Form. - Register with the Police.

Airport Transfer All students should complete the Airport Transfer form on the Pre- arrival Moodle We offer free transfers form Glasgow Airport, Edinburgh Airport and Leuchars Train Station on the 7th, 8th, and 9th of September. If you arrive outside of these dates please email us. Accommodation cannot be accessed before Saturday 7th at 10:00.

CAS After accepting your unconditional offer you will receive and email from registry about your CAS number. CAS - Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies. CAS numbers are needed for the Tier 4 Visa (Student Visa). You can find out more information about Visa’s and how long it takes to get them at https://www.gov.uk/tier-4-general-visa

Accommodation Opens 10 am on Saturday 7th of September Accept your offer. After unconditional offer you must accept your offer of accommodation This makes a contract Your room is guaranteed. Your room will have a double bed and bedding is provided. Parents of your same gender can stay with you in accommodation for up to 3 days.

Orientation Orientation will take place during your first week at the University beginning on Monday 9th September 2019. You can find more information on our website at: https://www.st- andrews.ac.uk/orientation/. You can also download the Orientation App on your phone.  A few days before the start of your foundation programme you will be able to download a copy of your Orientation timetable on the Pre- arrival Moodle. Orientation events run between September 9th to 15th.

Getting Around St Andrews The town of St Andrews is safe, small and easy to get around. It is possible for you to walk most places and most students choose to walk to town and class. You can also choose to cycle or taxi. There are a number of stores and cafés in town, including banks, mobile phone stores and grocery stores.
