2 Registration in the Norwegian system 1. step: Police Registration 2. step: receiving your residence permit card 3. step: apply for a Norwegian ID number 4. step: open a bank account 5. step: apply for MinID number (Quota)

3 1.Registration at the local police station Non-EU/EEA students: 7 days after arrival EU/EEA students: during the first 3 month of stay Required documents for Non-EU/EEA students: - UDI permit letter - Passport - Admission letter form UiA - Housing contract from SiA

6 2.Residence permit card EU/EEA citizens do not get a card. They register online and are saved in the system. Citizens outside EU/EEA get a residence permit card. - 1 week after police registration - Is valid together with your passport (or certified copy of passport) - The card alone is not valid for identification

Apply for a Norwegian ID number Visit the Tax Office (between: 9am-3pm) Submit the following documents: - Passport - Residence permit card - Application (notification to the tax office of moving to Norway form abroad) - Housing contract from SiA - Admission letter form UiA - Self financed students (outside EU/EEA): confrimation of deposit from UiA

11 Process of the Norwegian ID application Duration: 2-3 weeks After it has been processed you get a letter with the Norwegian ID number Send us an email with the scanned letter so that we can register your ID number in our student system.

12 4. Open a bank account Meet personally at the bank Sumbit the following documents: - Passport - Letter with the Norwegian ID number Are you a self financed student, send us an email with your bank account number Activate your internet banking account (you may pay housing bills online)

13 Health Care Basic health care rights through NAV Should be combined with a private insurance valid for the entire stay in Norway.

19 When you apply for the grant from Lånekassen Follow instruction given in the handout! Apply for the whole academic year: 2015/16 Click on: ‘gå videre’ for the next page Select: full grant and loan Save your email address and Norwegian mobile number (you can later logg in with a code received in an sms) Select academic institution: University of Agder Quota Scheme Click on: ‘Send’ at the end of the registration

20 After you applied online for your scholarship A week after the registation you will receive a letter from Lånekassen. This will be sent to UiA. You will receive an email from the Service Centre when it has arrived. You sing the letter at the Service Centre and send it back to Lånekassen. Your grant will be transfered to your Norwegian bank account in 1-2 weeks. (15th of every month)

21 Scholarship and your housing Your scholarship lasts for 10 months of a year During summer months you are supposed to travel home You need to apply for your accomodation for next academic year by SiA. You do the application online around March/April, once the portal is opened.

22 Travel grant 3 times during a two year program - First trip to Norway (one-way) - Round trip (summer home and back to N) - Final trip home The grant is a set amount not eqvilaent with your real costs Fill out the form: Travel Claim and submit it to me.

23 Study progression report Important for visa renewal for the next academic year Application online portal by UDI open from May, make an appointment at the police station Full study load: 60 ECTS/year Minimum accepted study load: 45 ECTS/year (following your study plan) Your faculty issues the report, you submit to the police station. Please follow your given study plan!
