6 Registration applications
You must post the following documents: a complete application form evidence of your identity evidence of your qualification evidence of your good character evidence of insurance to practise in the UK evidence of your physical and mental health registration fee

8 Evidence of identity Copy certified by someone of professional standing of either: your passport An ID Card for EEA applicants without a passport your original Birth Certificate and a document with a photograph, e.g., driving licence, ID card; and evidence of name change if different from passport. Certified copies must give a similar wording to: I confirm this to be a true and accurate copy of the original document as sighted by me J Bloggs Doctor of Chiropractor 17 June 2018

9 Evidence of your qualification
To show you have achieved your chiropractic qualification you must provide: (preferred) an original letter from the college signed by either the Principal or Academic Registrar; or an original qualification certificate.

10 Evidence of your good character
Pro-forma reference to download from You must provide a character reference, which must: be written by someone of professional standing who has known you for 4+ years not be from someone who is related to you or who is a patient or employee include an original signature be dated no more than 3 months before the date of first registration Other documents we may need Certificate of Good Standing Police Record Check

11 Evidence of indemnity arrangements/ insurance
Your insurance must start before we register you To show you have insurance we need either: an direct from the BCA/ SCA an copy of your insurance policy schedule If you can arrange your insurance a few days before you wish to start practising, so we can register you in advance. This will make it less stressful for you and easier for the office.

12 Medical report Pro-forma medical to download from www.gcc-uk.org
Please double check that your medical report: gives your full name is dated states that it is written based on either: 4 years of your medical notes, or an examination if notes are not available confirms that you are physically and mentally fit, or gives details of any health conditions you have and how they are being managed is signed by a GP, we cannot accept reports signed by someone else at the surgery Overseas nationals May also provide a medical from a UK GP and GP from their home state to cover the 4 years

13 Documents not in English
Certified translation of all documents document not in English. Translation must be from either: a member of the Institute of Translation and Interpreting ( or similarly qualified translator overseas; or a consular official or equivalent

14 Fees The GCC is not able to offer pro-rata fees. The same fee is payable at whatever point in the year you are registered The full fee must be paid before registration is granted Its not possible to pay the initial registration fee by instalments Register after 10 November and pay no retention fee Practising Non-practising New registration £750 £100 Retention £800

16 Important! all documents, except the evidence of your ID and insurance must be originals scanned or posted copies are not accepted we cannot guarantee when registration will be granted we strongly suggest you do not book patients until we have confirmed your registration

17 We will: we aim to check your application within 24 hours of its arrival. This does not mean you will be registered in 24 hours look at your documents to make sure they meet our requirements let you know by if we need any more information you with your registration number and start date once you have been registered post a letter confirming your registration and certificate to your registered address provide you with a website user number to sign up to use the GCC website

18 Continuing Professional Development
The CPD year runs from 1 September to the end of the following August A full years CPD is 30 hours, 15 hours of which must include learning with others New Registrants must complete 2½ hours of CPD for each full month of the CPD year they are registered You do not need to complete a learning cycle if you are registered between 1 June and 31 August

19 CPD must relate to your professional learning and development as a chiropractor and not your business or personal development At least half of your CPD must include learning with others You may be removed from the Register if you do not fill in your CPD record summary by 30 September You can complete your CPD online, but will not be able to do so if you are registered between 1 June and 31 August as the system requires you to enter a learning cycle

20 Retention on the register
retention applies to all chiropractors registered before 10 November the retention process normally begins in autumn, around mid October applications must arrive before 30 November practising retention fee is £800 for Non practising is £100 payments can be made by direct debit, but only in advance. DD instruction is on the application form retention can be completed online
