Lunch Schedule All 5th grade classes will attend lunch from 12:20 - 12:50

Birthdays Parents may send a store-bought birthday treat with your child in the morning (7:40-7:55) to be shared with the class before our first rotation. For planning purposes, please contact the teacher at least one day prior, if you will be bringing treats for your child’s birthday. Since the celebrations will occur in the morning, a breakfast treat such as store-bought doughnuts or breakfast tacos might be a great idea.

Attendance Our 5th grade attendance goal is 97% Attendance Our 5th grade attendance goal is 97%. Attendance is taken at 9:15 each day. It is very important that your child is here all day. When they are not here, they are missing many opportunities for learning! Sarah

5th Grade follows the NEISD grading policy. Grades are determined as follows: A 100-90 B 89-80 C 79-75 D 74-70 F 69 and below Students have one opportunity to correct graded work that was less than 70%. The maximum grade that can be earned after the correction is a 70%. A 20% deduction from the total grade may be taken for any late work turned in. Kathy

Homework Homework in 5th grade might look different than previous years. Students will be assigned homework as determined by their subject teachers. It will be each student’s responsibility to copy his/her homework assignment into the agenda. Homework is to be turned in the following day unless otherwise noted (special projects).   Kathy

Agenda Book. The MOST valuable tool we use to communicate between school and home is the Agenda Book. In it you will find: A record of your child’s behavior A record of daily assignments Important upcoming dates Your child should take their agenda home every night. Please take some time to review and sign it.. Raelynn

Post-It Tabs In class we will be keeping a composition book or spiral for each subject.  Students will take notes in these books, list vocabulary words and definitions, and use them as study guides for assessments.  In order to keep their notebooks organized and easy to review, we are asking for Post-It note tabs.

Expectation of Excellent Behavior 5th grade follows the Tuscany Heights Code of Conduct. Report card grades will be determined by the number of conduct marks received by your child during each grading period. This scale can also be found in their agenda book. E = 0-3 S = 4-6 N = 7-9 U = 10+ 3 late homework assignments will count as ONE conduct mark toward their nine week’s conduct grade. Raelynn

Math, Reading, and Science are tested in the 5th grade. The STAAR TEST (State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness) Math, Reading, and Science are tested in the 5th grade. Math STAAR- April 7th Reading STAAR- April 8th Science STAAR- May 14th April
