Course Description This course is a thematic study of a variety of literature from various countries. We will be studying short stories, novels, poetry, memoirs, nonfiction essays, speeches, and a play. Students will respond to literature by writing pieces that are narrative, informative, or argumentative.

Homework/Late Work Late homework will be accepted, but points will be deducted each day that it is late (10% off of the total for each day an assignment is late). No assignment will be accepted for a grade after five days. Students will only be allowed to make up work, tests, and quizzes with an excused absence.
What to Bring! You should have with you daily: (a) 3-ring binder (3 dividers required) (b) loose-leaf paper (college rule) (c) blue or black ink pen, pencil, and highlighter (d) USB flash drive (recommended for saving computer files) (e) agenda that the school provides
