10th Grade Literature (4th)

2 Course Description This course is a thematic study of a variety of literature from various countries. We will be studying short stories, novels, poetry, memoirs, nonfiction essays, speeches, and a play. Students will respond to literature by writing pieces that are narrative, informative, or argumentative.

4 Grading Scale Writing (Narrative, Literary Analysis, Research, Argumentative, Informative, Explanatory) 30% Reading (Literature, Non-Fiction Texts) Language (Conventions, Vocabulary) 15% Listening/ Speaking (Collaboration, Presentation) 10% Final Exam (Cumulative) - EOC A 90-100 B 80-89 C 74-79 D 70-73 F 69-50

5 Homework/Late Work Late homework will be accepted, but points will be deducted each day that it is late (10% off of the total for each day an assignment is late). No assignment will be accepted for a grade after five days. Students will only be allowed to make up work, tests, and quizzes with an excused absence.
