Successful Lessons – Conclusion

Video Let's watch a short conclusion and do some final activities. Play the video.

Pair Work Consider the diorama project in terms of the art of teaching. Make a list of what you need to consider before you do this project. Make a list of things to consider in action (while your students are doing the project). Application 1 Distribute Handout 6.2. Have participants work in pairs. Ask participants to brainstorm responses to the prompt using the Our World example on Handout 6.2. Possible answers: Before: tell students what materials to bring; ask them to research caves; provide alternative resources for students who can’t bring something from home or who don’t have internet access. In action: monitor for students who don’t have materials or don’t know where to start; monitor for situations that may cause a mess; etc.

Pair Work Choose a project in your Our World Student Book, and think about the art of teaching. Make a list of what you need to consider before you do this project. Make a list of things to consider in action (while your students are doing the project). Application 2 Have participants work with a different partner. Have pairs brainstorm responses to the prompt using any example from their Our World Student Book. Possible answers: Before: tell students what materials to bring; provide alternative resources for students who can’t bring something from home or who don’t have internet access. In action: monitor for students who don’t have materials or don’t know where to start; monitor for situations that may cause a mess, etc.
