What is a Food Chain? A food chain shows the feeding relationships between organisms and ecosystems. Producers Herbivores Consumers Decomposers

Producers Plants that get their food from the sun’s energy and act as a source of food for other organisms in an ecosystem.

Herbivores An animal that eats plants rather than other animals.

Consumers A plant or animal that gets its energy (food) from other living things.

Decomposers An organism, like bacteria, that breaks down dead plant or animal matter and releases their nutrients back into the soil.
