What is a Food Chain? A food chain show the feeding relationships between organisms in an ecosystem. Producers HerbivoresCarnivores Decomposers
Producers Plants get their food from the sun’s energy and act as a source of food for other organisms in an ecosystem
Consumers A plant or animal that gets its energy (food) from other living things.
Herbivores An animal that eats plants rather than other animals.
Carnivores An animal that eats meat.
Decomposers An organism, like bacteria, that breaks down dead plant or animal matter and releases their nutrients back into the soil.

1 st 6 Weeks Vocab Review Food Chain and Food Webs.
How is an organism’s energy role determined in an ecosystem?
an organism that makes its own food an organism that eats other living things to get energy.
4 th Grade SAL1: Students will describe the roles of organisms and the flow of energy within an ecosystem.
Trophic Levels & Energy in Ecosystems. Energy Movement through Ecosystems Energy flows through ecosystems Trophic levels: feeding relationships.
Who’s Who in a Food Chain?
Energy Flows Through Ecosystems Sun: Makes all energy on Earth. Producers: Make their own food. Consumers: Get their food by eating other organisms. Decomposers:
Within a food chain, some living things create the energy and some use the energy.
Nutrition and Energy Flow What eats what?. How organisms get energy Autotrophs make their own nutrients Autotrophs make their own nutrients Plants use.
Food webs model interactions within the community.
the transfer of energy and matter in the form of food when one organism eats another organism.

Producers, Consumers, Decomposers Its all about what you eat!
A producer is an organism that gets its energy from the sun. Example: sunflower plant.
How do organisms get energy?. Getting Energy Food chain – a sequence of connected producers and consumers Producer – an organism that makes its own food.
By: Mason Marshall FOOD CHAIN. An ordered arrangement of animals and plants in which each feeds on the one below it in the chain. ProducersHerbivoresCarnivores.
Do Now Question Give 5 examples of biotic factors and 5 examples of abiotic factors. 10/2.
Decomposers are organisms that eat dead or decaying organisms. They carry out the natural process of decomposition. Fungi is the primary and most common.
