1 st 6 Weeks Vocab Review Food Chain and Food Webs
Producer Organism that makes its own food from the Sun. Like Plants!
Consumer An organism that eats. Like an animal!
Decomposer Breaks down dead organisms and brings nutrients back to the soil. (earthworms, fungi, bacteria)
Symbol in a food chain or food web that means “gives energy to.”
Food Chain The path of food energy from one organism to another.
Food Web A connection of food chains with many food energy paths in an ecosystem.
Primary Consumer An animal that eats the producer in a food chain or food web.
Secondary Consumer An animal that eats the primary consumer.
Tertiary Consumer An animal that eats the secondary consumer.
Predator An organism that hunts and feed on another organism. (the killer, the hunter)
Prey An organism that is being hunted. (Chased, Victim)
1 Energy Flow Through an Ecosystem Food Chains, Food Webs, Energy Pyramids.
an organism that makes its own food an organism that eats other living things to get energy.
Energy Flow in the Ecosystem. Food chain – shows which organisms each which in an ecosystem.
Unit B: Chapter 2 Vocabulary Living Things Depend on One Another.
Ch. 6: Energy in Ecosystems Vocabulary: producer, consumer, herbivore, carnivore, omnivore, decomposer, food chain, food web, energy pyramid.
Flow of Energy through Ecosystems Food Chain: A simple diagram of one string of feeding relationships in an ecosystem, showing the direction of the transfer.

Energy Flow In An Ecosystem Unit 11 - Ecology. Producers The most important part of an ecosystem Without a constant energy source, living things cannot.
Energy Flows Through Ecosystems Sun: Makes all energy on Earth. Producers: Make their own food. Consumers: Get their food by eating other organisms. Decomposers:
Ecosystems and Food Chains An ecosystem is all the living and nonliving things in an area, in relation to their environment.
Energy Transfer All living things need energy to survive.
the transfer of energy and matter in the form of food when one organism eats another organism.
