Presentation transcript:

This program is organized by the Huntsville Area Tennis Association Membership in USTA is required and costs $44 for one year. In addition, there is a $23 fee to sign-up for a team. There will be a coach to teach you how to play, conduct team practices, and be on-hand to help with scoring and questions about rules. Your coach will provide information on signing up for USTA membership and help you establish your NTRP rating as a 2.0 or 2.5. Teams will form in September to play Fall League Women’s 2.5. The 2.5 format means that two 2.5s or lower skill level play doubles together. Each team puts two players on each of two courts to play doubles. A third court will play singles. The coach will help with forming the teams. There will be four optional two hour practices. They will be held at 9:00am at the Huntsville Tennis Center (HTC) on Saturday, July 27; Saturday, August 3; Saturday, August 10; and Saturday, August 17. Any 2.0 or 2.5 can attend practice. You can expect about one league match per week in the Fall. Matches will be scheduled by the USTA League Coordinator, who schedules them for the whole season, so you can work out your availability to play. With twelve players on a team you can expect to play every other week. One team from this league will be eligible to advance to the USTA League State Championships in Gulf Shores in November 2018. All practices will be at the Huntsville Tennis Center, but matches may be played at either HTC or at Athletic Club Alabama (located near HTC on Leeman Ferry Road). What to do now? E-mail Stephen Kee at huntsvilletennis@gmail.com and indicate that you want to be contacted when teams form in Sept. or you can attend any of the practices. Team practices cost $7 each for court fees plus a one time charge of $20 for a course handbook. If you wish, you can also arrange for a lesson with a teaching pro at Huntsville Tennis Center (256) 883-3986, Madison Dublin Park (256) 694-5720, Hampton Cove (256) 533-3011, or Athletic Club Alabama (256) 881-0931. Clinics and/or lessons with a pro will help you learn technique (hitting, serving, etc.) more quickly. This program is organized by the Huntsville Area Tennis Association Summer 2019

LADIES’ BEGINNER LEAGUES This league is designed for beginners to league tennis who are at least 18 years old. The United States Tennis Association (USTA) has established the National Tennis Rating Program (NTRP) in order to classify players according to their ability so that league matches are more competitive and more fun. The 2.5 Level is for beginners to play with other beginners. Don’t worry, if you are not ‘ready’ for league tennis, the whole idea of this league is to have fun and learn to play matches.
