World War I The End of the War

World War I – U.S Joins the War Causes of U.S. declaration of war: Germans attack the Lusitania (Americans died) and the Zimmerman Note Germany asks Mexico to make war against US President Woodrow Wilson asks congress to declare war (1917)

WWI – End of the War Russia drops out and breaks out into civil war (1917). Germans make one last attempt to win but the U.S. presence makes a difference.

WWI – End of the War July 1918, Entente Forces push Germans back (Battle of the Marne) November 1918, Germans declare an armistice (break in the fighting)

WWI – The Paris Peace Talks Wilson proposes his “14 Points”. Free Trade Reduce weapons Self-determination (freedom to choose government) Point 14 - Ensure a lasting peace with the League of Nations
