Agenda Warm Up Subject Practice How to make a sandwich Intro to Tone Closure

Objectives: Homework: Identify and understand tone as it is used in a nonfiction text. Demonstrate a conceptual understanding of tone. Homework: VOS Unit 2 Choose the right word due tomorrow Grammar Quiz tomorrow

Vocabulary Unit 2 Pass up the flash card with “Extol” on it. Your name has to be on it to receive credit. Take a couple minutes to work on the Choosing the Right Word.

Hard to Find Subjects Get into your pairs and take everything off of your desk. Take a worksheet and complete it. Whatever you don’t complete is homework. Ask your partner if you have a question about the assignment. Only ask me as a last resort.

How to Make a Sandwich Get into your four person groups and spread out. You don’t want to be anywhere near the other groups. You will need 1 piece of paper. I will hand an envelope to each group.

Guessing Time Send one member per group to grab the white boards and a dry-erase marker. Each group will present their 10-step guide. While a group is presenting, the other groups must draw their sandwich as it is described. When finished drawing, write the emotion used in the 10 step guide below your masterpiece.

Closure 3, 2, 1 Write: 3 things you have learned about tone today. 2 examples of hard-to-find subjects. 1 question you still have regarding today’s lesson.
