2 Monday: 10/23/17 Procedure Before Class Starts: Sign in at the front table and collect any handouts for the day Warm Up: Vocabulary Practice / Vocabulary in Context (non-fiction) Class Activities: Introduction To The Holocaust Lesson and quiz Closure: Turn in Article of the Week Comprehension Quiz and critical writing prompt. Learning Target: I can understand and describe what a contexual text is explicitly saying as well as draw inferences from the text while reading an article of the week. Closing Task: Turn in comprehension quiz & Critical Writing over article of the week. Homework: Read part one of The Book Thief & take notes for the open note Test over Part one on Friday, 10/27/17. Make Flashcard or Quizlet for Unit 4 Vocabulary Test on Friday 11/3/17.

Track the themes found in the close-read passage Analyze how the themes apply to each section. Closure: Work together with your shoulder partner to come up with two quiz questions (and answers) for what you learned today. The questions can be multiple choice or short answer with evidence. Learning Target: I can close read and identify and analyze theme in part 1 of The Book Thief. Closing Task: If you & your partner were writing a quiz over today’s material, what are two questions that you would put on the quiz? (one each) Turn in to me at the end of class. Homework: Read part one of The Book Thief & take notes for the Open Note Assessment over Part one on Friday, 10/27/17. Study Unit 4 Vocabulary Test on Friday 11/3/17.
