Handouts: * Lit Test #4: Informational Reading Unit Homework: * Read AR book 20 – 30 minutes & record progress on chart * STUDY for Grammar Test #5, Adjectives: Test is tomorrow. Assignments Due: * Did you study for today’s test? We’ll soon find out!

2 Today’s Goal: Demonstrate what you have learned by completing Literature Test #4, on Informational Texts. Outcomes: Name four purposes for informational reading. Define the term “text features.” Name 14 text features and define or describe each one. State the purpose of each of the 14 text features we studied. Demonstrate your ability to use text features to help you find information. Define the terms “denotation” and “connotation” and explain how they differ in meaning. Name and define the five key techniques used in propaganda. Identify examples of each of the five propaganda techniques. Distinguish between fact and opinion in informational reading.

3 Starter #1: Prepare for today’s test: ) Take everything off from your desk. 2) Place your AR book under your chair. 3) If you don’t have an AR book, borrow a book from the Reading Cove now. 4) Remember to remain seated and maintain zero voice the entire period. 5) When you finish, check your work, then place the answer key under the test on your desk. 6) Use the remainder of the period to read.

4 Starter #2: How to fill out your test answer sheet.
On the gray side of your Scantron answer sheet, in the upper right-hand side of the sheet, fill out this info: Name First & Last Name (printed neatly) Subject Lit Test, Unit 4: Informational Reading Date Dec. 12, Period: 6-D or 6-M Do NOT make any other marks on your answer sheet. Do NOT make any marks on your tests.
