Mrs. Hearit’s Duck Class 2017-2018 Stephannie.Hearit@elps.us Birthdays. With the variety of allergies in the school, there will be no birthday treats. Instead we will celebrate birthdays with a variety of activities. Attendance. First bell rings at 8:40 am to let students in and the tardy bell rings at 8:45 am. Please try to be to school on time; we have lots to do every day! Coming and going. If you are dropping off late, please sign your child in at the office first, before coming to the classroom. If you are picking up early, please sign your child out at the office first and Mrs. Ward will call down to our room. Dismissal (3:33 pm) Please send back the packet of information TOMORROW so I know how your child will be dismissed. Please let the office know if there are any changes (and make sure your child and I know too! ) Email. Please email me so I can create a class email group. I email newsletters and other important information. Please email me with any questions or concerns. **(I have 2 n’s in my first name)** Stephannie.Hearit@elps.us Folder. Your child will have a folder that goes home on Monday and Friday. Please check the “Bring back” side for any important information that needs to come back to school. Great behavior. I use a website called Class Dojo to keep track of students’ behaviors. The students earn points for good choices and points get taken away for not so good choices. *Look for a log in sheet so you can see your child’s behavior. Homework. Your child will have a reading log for books that they read in their book bags. We will be starting math homework this year, so be looking out for that. Just in case. Please send in a change of clothes labeled with your child’s name on them. Independence. Your child can do a lot more than you think. Look for times to allow them to do the work independently. Lunch. (11:30-12:15 pm) You can pay online or send the money in a labeled envelope to the office. There is no fridge for home lunches or use of a microwave. Students eat lunch first then go out to recess. OVER Keeping Updated. Please check your email for a weekly newsletter from me. Also, check our website daily. Theduckclass.weebly.com Mrs. Hearit’s Duck Class 2017-2018

Also, make sure your child eats a good breakfast, snack is not until 10:30 am. Orders of books.I will send home a book order each month. You do not need to order books but we do earn free books when we have large orders! Patience. Please be patient the first few weeks of school. If your child doesn’t finish their work, I will make a note on it for them to finish at home. Please finish it up at home and send it back. Volunteers. We love them! But please give us a few weeks to get our routines down and to get to know each other. A note will come home with the volunteer options and times. Water.Your child can bring a water bottle to school on Monday and I will send it back home on Friday to be cleaned. Please make sure it is labeled with your child’s name. eXperiences.Kids come to school with all sorts of them. Some can read very well while other are still working on kindergarten sight words; some love math and some don’t. Everyone is unique! Yummy snacks.(10:30am) Please send in a healthy snack with your child every day. If you would like to send in snacks for those who occasionally forget, that would be greatly appreciated. ZZZZ’s. Kids need a lot of sleep and they will be tired at the end of the week. They work really hard in school and it takes awhile to get used to demands of First Grade.
