Design Thinking Challenge: Book Project #2 Due Friday, January 4th

Design what your character needs to solve a conflict or problem that they are faced with throughout the novel. Start by gaining EMPATHY 1 Gathering Evidence 2 Uncover More Notes from book (stated and inferred text evidence) Notes from book (stated and inferred text evidence)

REFRAME the challenge 3 Capture Findings 4 Define Challenge Statement Needs: *use verbs Insights: new learnings about your character’s feelings/perspective to inform your design* character’s name (preceded by multiple adjectives) needs a way to (what he/she is trying to do) Surprisingly // because // but… (select one) insight

IDEATE: generate alternatives for gathering feedback 5 Sketch at least 5 radical ways to meet your character’s needs. Write your challenge statement here. 6 Share your proposed solutions & capture feedback. (conference with Mrs. Lesher)

ITERATE based on feedback (Solve the character’s conflict) 7 Reflect & generate a new proposed solution. Sketch your big ideas; note details if helpful.

BUILD and gather FEEDBACK 8 Build your solution. 9 Share your solution & get feedback. (Present to class) ) Create a tangible “something” for your character. (Prototype) [We will create prototypes in the Design Thinking Lab together as a class] + What worked… Δ What needs improving… ? Questions… ! Aha ideas…

REFLECT on your experience 10 Review your process; identify new insights, lessons learned, etc. Capture your ideas from discussion here and write your reflection.
