What are you going to use it for? EVERYTHING! Bellringers Current Events Notes Reflections Vocabulary Classroom Assignments (ex. review questions)

Setting it up First thing you do using a marker… Write on inner or outer front cover; name (first and last) Subject block PLUS put your name along the bottom of journal 1 journal/class Now open your journal to the first page.

Table of Contents You will log all the material that you put in your journal in this section Write “Table of Contents” across the top of this page. Then write “Date” “Title” “Page # ” under the Table of Contents heading.

Should look like this Table of Contents Date Title Page # Now do this for 2 sheet front and back……..(total of 4 times) Use a ruler and create columns for each heading

Skip a page then on the next page, (Right side of Journal) Write Bellringers across the top of this page These pages are for Bellringers ONLY. Take the Yellow Tab and write “Bellringers” Put it on the edge of this page; marking this section Now number 8 sheets (front and back), starting with #1.

Next, on the right side of your Journal Take a Pink Tab and write “Current Events”, this tab will go on this page. Take the current event handout and glue it on this page

Still working on Current Events Starting from the number you left off from Bellringers, continue numbering 15 sheets (30 times) front and back. 1 page/current event For each current event you need to write out your headings (Leave space between headings for entries) Article Title Source and date Summary Response

Now, on the right side of your journal Take another Blue Tab and write “Assignments”. You will use this as a tab on this page for your assignments. To start off number 6 sheets front and back. You will continue numbering pages for this section as you use them.

Notes Go to the back of your journal/Appendix Write “Notes” on the Orange tab Use number 1a, 2a, 3a for this section

To get full credit Journals, approximately 4 times a semester Checked frequently for BRs and biweekly for CE for daily grade You will get a check sheet before journals are due. If you don’t have assignment get it! Journals need to be neat and organized, if they are hard to read or navigate, points will be deducted. Late journals will be deducted 10% each day late, after 7 days you will receive a zero. * If you lose your journal see me asap!!!!
