1 Interactive Math Notebook

2 What is it? Your notebook is a tool for your success in Math.
It allows you to keep track of lessons, worksheets, homework, and classwork for each day in an organized way. It teaches you how to keep yourself organized!

3 Think of your INB as a semester project (it will be collected once a semester and given a mark out of 100). Once the lesson has finished, you should glue in your notes so you don’t lose them! It is your responsibility to keep your INB up-to-date throughout the semester and collect any work you’ve missed.

4 Math INB Rubric

5 Page Numbers The Page number needs to be in the bottom left-hand corner on the left side of the left page. It should be in a large print so it is easy to see while flipping through pages for a specific page. The Page number needs to be in the bottom right-hand corner on the right side of the right page. DO NOT cover page numbers when taping in papers. 66 67

6 Dates The Date ALWAYS needs to be on the right-hand page in the top right corner. Dates should be on every day's NB page. DO NOT cover the date when taping in papers. 67 66

7 Title Title Title * When taping down handouts, NEVER COVER THE TITLE OF A PAGE!!! * It should be large like the page numbers so it is easy to see. 66 67

8 Lessons & Homework Each day’s lesson should take up pages in your INB. You may fold the handouts in half, if you like. Don’t worry about right vs. left orientation! Homework is written on the following page! Don’t forget textbook numbers too. 66 67

9 Output This could be many things, such as:
! Concept maps ! Diagrams ! Story ! Comics ! Math journal tasks ! Venn diagrams ! Create a word problem Sometimes a specific output task will be assigned to you. Sometimes you will choose your own. This is where you can be creative and use even more colour! 66 67

12 Reflection Topic: Why is learning math important?
Read the short article on the class website titled “Why do I have to learn this?” Discuss 2 or more topics in math (e.g., rates and ratios) and give real-life applications.
