Anuncios *Homecoming packages on sale* Prueba 2.1: el 19 de septiembre (vocabulario, ir + a + infinitive) Duolingo: el 30 de septiembre

Ir + a + infinitive We use “ir + a + infinitive” to talk about what will happen in the future. “Ir” means to go; in this structure, it’ll mean “going…” An infinitive verb is a verb that is not conjugated aka a verb that ends in - AR, -ER, or -IR. ¿Qué vas a hacer? → ¿What are you going to do? Slight exception: It will be...→ Va a ser…

Ir + a + infinitive To use this structure, we need three components: Conjugation of ir (voy, vas, va, vamos, van) The letter “a” Infinitive verb (-ar, -er, -ir form of the verb) Yo voy a cantar. → I am going to sing. Juan va a comer. → Juan is going to eat. Ellos van a escribir. → Ellos are going to write.

Práctica Guiada Write out the following sentences in Spanish only and fill in the blanks: I am going to have a house. → Yo voy a _____ una casa. You are going to do homework. → Tú _____ a _____ tarea. We are going to go to Japan. → _____ vamos a _____ a Japón. They are going to be doctors. → Ellos van _____ _____ doctores. Isabel is going to study. → Isabel _____ a _____.

Práctica Independiente Write an 8-10 sentence paragraph discussing what you are going to do in the future. You should use ir + a + infinitive at least six times, and underline it every time you use it. Your paragraph could start this way: “En el futuro, yo…” You can write about what job you will be, activities you will do, places you will see, what you will have, who you will live with, etc.
