This term our topic is – Let there be light! Opal Homework Summer 1 This term our topic is – Let there be light! Mental wellbeing Make memories, do the things that make you smile, laugh, tell jokes, hug the people close to you and most importantly …. KEEP SAFE AND HAVE FUN! Social/ family time Sit down, grab some popcorn, and watch a film with your family or friends. After it has finished why not write a film review to let others know if it is worth the watch or not. Writing Write a description of a character out of your favourite film. What do they look like? Where do they come from? What do you like about them? Create a fact sheet with your top ten facts, on the history of light, to share with your friends at school. Make it eye-catching. Use funky writing and colours to interest your reader. Art Create your own artwork with the theme of light. How can you use your art skills to show off your skills? Use shade and tone to show light and dark areas. PE Have some fun and set up an obstacle race with your friends. Write out a plan including a map to show the layout of your game. Take pictures of everyone taking part. Maths Write a set of instructions of how to throw a fundraising party. Set a budget, create a theme and make a list of the things you will need. How much will everything cost? Vocabulary Create a word bank of exciting vocabulary that you think may be useful to have in your desk at school. Think about science vocabulary linked to light and circuits. If you could be an inventor what would you create? Write a product description for your invention. Free style Draw your favourite memory from a family day out. Use paint, pencil, collage or what ever you have to hand. Literacy Write a recount of something exciting you have done over the half term holidays. Art/D.T Research how to make your own candles and write an instruction guide on how to do so. Can you have a go at making some with an adult? What? You can choose as many tasks as you like, making sure you take photos or record any writing, if you need a book or paper to record on, just ask! Some tasks are more of a challenge, if you do a good job you can earn extra diddy-dots! When? You have over the summer holidays and over the half term to complete the task. Return for Monday 20th May for marking and a reward!
