1 Great Marsden St John's 'Pick and Mix' Homework
Year 5 – Spring Term 2 This 'Pick and Mix' homework is for the whole half term. Red Boxes need to be completed regularly each week. Yellow Boxes must be done at some point during the half term. Challenge yourself to the green box activities. These do not have to be done, but if you want to push yourself, that would be super! Remember – your Learning Log must be returned to school each Wednesday. Reading You must read at least 3 times a week at home. Each time ask an adult to write a comment and sign your reading diary. Maths task Find a 3d shape. Using a ruler and pencil, draw the net of a shape. Can you think of another way of drawing it? The Empty Box! You can do anything you like; a presentation on something that interests you; write about something you have done - the choice is yours... 6.3.19 Writing Task Write some Haikus about Spring. Think about the syllables (5, 7, 5) and the vocabulary you choose to create an image. Maths Prodigy Please spend half an hour a week on Prodigy. A Family Activity How many signs of spring can you spot? Have a go at sketching some of the flowers that you might see. Spelling/Phonics Each Monday you will receive spellings to be learnt for a test on Friday. Talk about... Talk for 2 minutes about Narnia! What is it like there? Who lives there? Can you use imagery to clearly describe it? (No erms allowed!) RE Task Think about our discussions of how God wanted to create a perfect world. What would your perfect world be like? You could show this through pictures. Write about your favourite book character. Describe what it is about them that you like as well as the kinds of things they do in the stories. Art Think about the work we did on the artist Vasiliy Myazin. Draw and colour a picture of your family in his style. Science Task Think about the work we have done on water resistance. Design and label a boat that would go very fast. Numeracy Facts You must complete your Maths Targets at least 3 times a week at home. Each time ask an adult to write a comment and sign your Maths diary. Reading Please log onto your Read Theory Account and spend 30 mins completing the quizzes. French Keep a weather diary of the week in French. Write down the name of the day and the type of weather it was. Use the sheet to help you. Please tick and initial the activities your child has completed.
